lake kivu is one of the great lakes of Africa but so much more could be done to make it an attraction ....

Lake Kivu. Is situated beautifully surrounded by mountains ..the city of Goma is vibrant and has a variety of accomodation for the backpacker to luxury 5 stars. The lake is crystal clear but is nothing like eg lake Malawi. Tourism is normally exploring the adventurous traveler going to viru ga or the vulcano..while hots and lodges lie on the lake its potential has not really been exploited and everything needs to be arranged with "connections'. Once been no need to return .

nous sommes partis de notre hotel (lac kivu lodge) pour aller visiter la baie de Sake et continuer notre chemin vers la ferme Malaïka dans le massissi....
ce périple est à conseiller, c'est magique et cela vous donne une vue des plus belle construction et plus beaux jardins au bord du lac kivu!

The chef, the staff, the manager all know their repetitive clients, always good staying their. food and service are all so good. Only thing is we dont have bathtabs but showers, hope you think of having some bathtabs, these would be great for weekends with champagne ;) . defo a hotel to reccomend.Ohhhhh and the spa OMG simply amazing

Warto dodać do trasy podróży!

Niezależnie, czy oglądane z brzegu Rwandy czy Kongo, robi jednakowo wielkie wrażenie. Warto wybrać się na rejs po jeziorze, odwiedzić wyspę Napoleona czy Idjwi. Jedno z Wielkich Jezior Afrykańskich, choć najmniejsze z nich, robi również wielkie wrażenie.

Mesmerizing Look

The lake looks amazing and definitely different at different times of day.
there are a large number of sit out and restaurants on the banks of this lake to suit different taste buds.
However, there are no organised tours on the lake, except for a fewe private ones by lake side restaurants.
It is known to be full of Methane content, so be ware , NO SWIMMING RECOMMENDED

Beauutiful Volcanic Crater Lake

Though no much activities around the lake, it is one place to sit on the shore and relax and enjoy a beer or a glass of wine especially if you are staying at the Ihusi Hotel in DRC. The view is very beautiful especially from the air.

Its not a lake...Gosh its a sea

Lake kivu is so massive, the expanse is almost 45 kns and looks like a sea. There are number of resorts both in drc and rwanda on the banks of lake kivu offering excellent multi cuisine options. A must visit for all.
