It's a beautiful building, but the collection inside this castle isn't very attractive. There is little to see and some reproductions of newspapers from when the city was founded.
Entrance is free, and it's just a few minutes' drive from the city's waterfront.

We didn't go inside the castle, but the architectural style is really cool, worth taking good photos, but it's nothing unmissable. If you have a car, I recommend going as it is very different.

Un lugar historico detenido en el tiempo. El casco de la mansión del fundador de la zona, Sr. Francisco Piria. Esta situado un poco alejado de la ciudad de Piriápolis. Se puede llegar con el bus público. No es una atracción fastuosa, pero si resguarda la propiedad, algunos muebles y el entorno natural muy especial, por el lugar elegido para la construcción, en terreno muy lindo, con la vista del Cerro Toro. Es inevitable no transportarse a aquéllos años de esplendor y entender como se vivía en esos tiempos. Una excursion que suma conocer más de Piriápolis, admirarla y quererla más... 😏👌🇺🇾🇦🇷

Es hermoso conocer su historia por eso recomiendo ir con guía. No pudimos conocer planta alta porque a administradora actual no quiso. Al parecer siempre encuentra un pretexto para que la gente no suba.

Hermoso parque y hermosa construcción que pertenecieran al fundador de Piriápolis, gran empresario inmobiliario y además alquimista. Hermosas vistas al cerro Pan de Azúcar.
A fines del siglo pasado se realizó una excelente restauración del edificio, pero lamentablemente parece que desde ese entonces no se ha mantenido adecuadamente, ni se ha procurado agregar interés al paseo. Se nota la falta de mantenimiento, muchas habitaciones están clausuradas, no se puede visitar el mirador ni salir a la terraza. El "pueblo español" que existía en el predio está en ruinas y tampoco se puede visitar. No hay una oficina de información, ni una tienda, ni cafetería. Las exposiciones que se realizan en la planta baja son, en general, bastante pobres.
Una lástima. Es un lugar que, con una buena gestión, podría convertirse en un hermoso paseo cultural, si hubiera un buen mantenimiento del edificio, oficina de información, tienda, cafetería, y por qué no biblioteca y sala de conferencias. Además de disfrutar del hermoso paisaje se debería brindar al visitante la posibilidad de recorer toda la casa, además de información sobre la historia del lugar, de Piriápolis y su fundador (algo hay, pero deja gusto a poco), y la posibilidad de participar en eventos culturales. El sitio tiene potencial para todo eso, pero está increíblemente desaprovechado.,

El sitio tiene potencial para todo eso, pero está increíblemente desaprovechado.,

El castillo de piria te invita a visitarlo con solo verlo por fuera, tiene una gran historia sin embargo al ingresar no hay muchas habitaciones interesantes. No pudimos subir al segundo piso y terraza porque ese paseo solo lo hace la encargada que estamos jueves en la mañana!!
Poder visitar el castillo en su totalidad debiera ser algo diario y durante todo el día y no que dependa de un solo funcionario

Lugar muito lindo e com entrada gratuita! podemos entrar e ver algumas obras de arte e alguns objetos antigos preservados. Possui uma sala onde conta toda a historia de piriapolis e a construção do castelo.

Piriá Castle dates from 1897, was the home of Francisco Piriá and is located 4km from Piriápolis. The town was inspired by the beauty of the French Riviera.
In the interbellum Piriápolis was one the most exclusive seaside spa towns in the world. Today Piriápolis hosts middle-class Uruguayans and few tourists. In South America the place for the rich & famous now has been taken over by Cabo del Este.
We came on a Saturday in November and on the spacious garden we found a show of upgrades light-motorcycles and pushed-up cars loaded with giant ghetto blasters. The sound reached over 110dB. The young Uruguayans public loved it. On Saturday evening they parade their cars with their ghetto blasters driving over the rambla of Piriápolis.
The landmark is perched on a hilltop and looks down over the seaside town. Entrance of the stout building is free and provides a glimpse into Piriá's Piria’s mystical beliefs. He followed the Umbanda religion, a combination of Christianity and mystical practices. Piria built not only his dream home but also Piriápolis in a layout which honored the Tree of Life of the Kabbalah and the Constellation of Aquarius.
The road which sweeps up to the castle’s façade is lined with palm trees shipped from the Canary Islands. The grandeur of the building, with sturdy towers and robust symmetry has not withstood time. Only the ground floor is open to the public. There you can see the resident and guest rooms as well as the kitchen. A timeline provides a history of Francisco Piriá and his visionary town.
Beyond is one of Uruguay’s highest mountains. There stable ruins behind the castle are fenced off. On the way to Piriapolis you will see the abandoned church also built by Francisco Piria but never completed.

Hay una línea de buses que unen Piriapolis y Pan de Azúcar. De Piriapolis salen a toda hora y 25 de la terminal de autobuses de Piriapolis y el regreso salen de Pan de Azúcar a hora en punto.

Não é cobrado ingresso. A ala principal do Castelo fica aberta. As cocheiras, nas laterais, ficam abertas. Passei pelo local no meio da tarde. Há setores fechados à visitação. Mesmo com o aspecto de abandono, desde os gramados e jardins, vale a visita pela imponência do prédio.
