We had a half day jeep tour and spent 1 night at Bedouin Direction’s camp in Wadi Rum in March 23. It was a wonderful experience. The jeep trip took us far into the magical desert, and Mohammed, our driver, cooked the most delicious lunch in the wilderness. Dinner at the camp was also delicious. Yum yum in Wadi Rum. Odeh was very helpful and replied quickly to my email request. We highly recommend Bedouin Directions!

Most wonderful experience! Odeh was very lovely, helpful and entertaining. Me and my friend had an amazing time, the camp is beautiful, the food is delicious and the views are out of this world! I will happily return there and for a longer time 🥰

Authentic bedouin experience. Odeh and his family welcomed us in the best way, showing us around the Wadi Rum and sharing their knowledge with us. We shared a jeep tour with another couple and it was great. The camp is very quiet (far from other camps) and comfortable, with plenty of blankets for the night and exquisite dinner, music and shisha around the fire. Seeing the sun rise in the desert is a must. Overall a genuine experience that I definitely recommend.

After our tour with Bedouin Direction we can easilly say we have fallen in love in Jordan, dessert and Bedouin. Service is excellent but being honest it’s hard to say that’s service. After a few hours you start to feel like being with friends or good family. High professionalism with great attitude; knowledge but also feeling. Something is saying me that we have to come back there....

Wadi rum is beautiful and can't fault that part of the trip however
The vehicle we used was dirty and looked like it had been pulled out of the shed with dirt everywhere..
We were the only vehicle we saw that didn't have any padding on the benches, a day sitting on wood was not fun
Our guide was a young kid who although was friendly added no value other than dropping us at the spots then going and having tea with his mates. Other guides were offering to take pictures and give a little insight.
Seemed to overall be sub standard compared to other operations

We had only one day in Wadi Rum but it was one of the best days during our journey in Jordan and Israel! I contacted Mehedi 2 month in advance. We replied to me within a day or two. We did not want a usual your, therefore I proposed to combine Lawrence Spring, Khazali Canyon and Um Ad Dami hike. If you come from Petra, it is better to take a taxi for 35-45 JD, especially if you are 4. There is also a mini-bus that costs 7-8 JD p.p. It can be arranged via hotel, where you stay.
When you are at the guest house (meeting point for almost all tours), call to their office and someone would come within 5-10 minutes. It is recommended to come between 9 and 10 a.m.
We had a nice and attentive guide Eid, with whom we spent a lovely day:
1. Lawrence Spring Walk up through rocks and boulders to find the water (and a lovely fig tree to rest under). The view across the Wadi from here is legendary!
2. Short camel trip (for a small additional price arranged by Eid).
3. Khazali Canyon was once used by the local Bedouin to rest in the shade, especially in the hot summer. You can find on the canyon walls many ancient rock inscriptions (15 minute hike). There is also a legend about this place. I won't spoil it.
Afterwards we had 1 hour or so ride through the desert to the highest mountain in Jordan. Bear the in mind that it might be cold in the desert in winter, so bring warm clothes and... sun cream!
4. Um Ad Dami is more than 1,800 metres high. The mountain is offering you a whole new perspective of the desert from its summit. To the South you can see the border to Saudi Arabia, to the North Jebel Rum (next to Rum village). It took us approximately 2 hours to climb and come back to the jeep.
5. We could chose, if we want to have lunch before or after the hike. We decided to eat after the hike. Eid made a nice vegetable stew and sweet tea.
On the way back Eid organized a taxi from Wadi Rum village to Aqaba for us. We could have stayed at the bedouin camp over night but we decided to spent the night in a warmer place close to the sea. You should definitely stay overnight in the desert in summer! Stars must be amazing!
Great day! Highly recommended!

I can highly recommend to book the full day tour with Bedouin directions. Excellent communication beforehand.
Our guide Audi had perfect English and was very knowledgeable about the area. He gave many information about the different sites and hike options. We could do the hikes independently and at our own pace, which I loved. The lunch was delicious and was cooked on an open fire in the middle of the desert. Be prepared to have loads of tea (free of charge) by the most popular sites.
The sunset spot was the highlight of the tour. Truely amazing. Audi made a fire there so we could keep warm and enjoy the sunset vista. We spontaneously stayed for dinner in the camp and returned to the village afterwards as we did not want to stay over night. The camp is very secluded and far away from the village and other camps which is not the case for some other companies. Ameneties in the camp were better than expected. You will also have a gret time staying overnight.
A great day which was the highlight of our holiday! Thank you :)

Had a good experience for the one day Jeep tour and night stay at Wadi Rum with Bedouin Directions. The people were polite and helpful but I felt the energy was a little low (probably the bedouin way) but for private solo tour if the energy is low it doesn't quite feel great. Nevertheless the guide and the night camp crew were very polite and hospitable. The night camp is located in a magical place and the experience of interacting with fellow travelers was wonderful.

Hi Vivek,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your valuable feedback. We are happy to hear overall you enjoyed your tour, our camps location and the experience in the evening.
We are sorry to hear you felt the tour lacked energy. This is one of those things in our business which we try to get right but it's impossible to get right every time. Some people want a high energy tour, and some people like to quietly enjoy the desert, and would complain the guide was being pushy if he was being too energetic when they wanted some serenity.
Our guides try to get a feel for people, their likes, dislikes, their tastes, but we can't and don't always get it right every time.
For anyone reading this, who will join us on their tour in the future I would like to offer the following suggestion:
If anyone is on a tour and they are hoping their guide will be more energetic then if they start to be more energetic the guide will pick up this is what you like and respond. If you want to talk more, then ask questions, then the guide will begin to offer more by himself. If you are quiet and the guide won't stop trying to get you to jump off the Jeep, then gently let him know you want to enjoy the desert quietly.
We hope we will see you again Vivek and I'll be sure to send a more outgoing guide with you next time,
Best wishes from the Desert!

Simpel wat zijn de kosten van de verschillende Wadi Rum tours?
Ik ga eind Augustus naar aqaba en wil zowel Wadi Rum als ook Petra gaan bezoeken

Dear Rogier P,
Thank you so much for your question. It is good to hear from you and Insha'Allah we will get the chance to meet you in your upcoming visit to Wadi Rum. I apologies because my reply is in English.
There is no 100% simple answer to your question, as there is so much variety in what can be done & the relevant prices. However I will do my best to simplify it!
- Jeep tours can be priced from 15JD p.p - 45JD p.p (can be more if you are a solo traveller) the price varying somewhat between the length of tour, how many people are in the Jeep, and if lunch is included.
- Camel treks can be anything from 30 minutes - a full day and would usually cost between 10JD p.p - 35JD p.p. Factors affecting the price are the length of trek, if lunch is included, and if the guide walks or rides his own Camel.
- Hiking tours can cost between 20JD p.p - 65JD p.p. The price varying between whether a Jeep is used, if lunch is included, and the type of hike undertaken.
- Overnight stays are usually 25JD p.p this includes dinner & breakfast. A cheaper rate of 20JD p.p is given when the group is 5 people or more.
The rates I give do not include the 5JD p.p entrance fee to Wadi Rum. Drinks ARE included.
When planning your visit to Wadi Rum, my suggestion is to first consider how you want to explore (purely on foot, by Jeep, by Camel, or a combination of methods). Then look at the time you have available and work from there. Get some quotes. Then once you have a price/ quote for your ideal visit, if you find it over budget you can discuss ways to reduce the cost with your guide. For example you could consider making your tour available for others to join, so a shared tour. Or to reduce the use of the Jeep which can also reduce the cost.
Other low cost ways to spend time in the desert is to spend a day at the Camp (a "Hang Out Day"). Then you simply pay the cost of the accommodation and a packed lunch if you need it. This works best with a 2 night stay, or doing a tour on the first day, and doing a Hang Out Day on a second day, for people wanting to spend longer in the desert.
I hope that helps,
Best wishes from the Desert!
Mehedi
