We had an amazing time thanks to Julio. As part of our acclimatisation for the Huayhuash we had a super fun day ride with Julio, and once he told us about his 2 day trip we knew we had to sign up. His driver Mauro was super helpful and cool to hang out with. We loved the double and single track riding in the mountains and then riding down incredible road descent from the Punta Olympica tunnel to Carhuaz was sublime. We packed in the 2 day trip just before the night bus to Lima, Julio was very kind and offered us a hot shower, stored our stuff whilst we grabbed dinner and booked us a taxi - what a great guy!

Highly recommended. Julio is a person who knows about mountain bikes and almost all the routes in Huaraz. He is a responsible person who cares about your comfort and takes you to circuits according to the level you are at, from beginner to MTB expert.
If you go to Huaraz and want to have the experience of riding a bicycle seeing the snow-capped mountains in the background, this is the best option.

Best mountain bike company in Huaraz! Would give ) stars if I could. Julio is an amazing guide and super knowledgeable about the area. Chose this company and Julio for all your mountain biking adventures! I had so much fun and the ride took me through all sorts of scenery and diversity of trails!

Julio was an amazing guide and knows the area better than anyone. My partner and I had an unforgettable adventure from the mountains to the town, riding through historical and beautiful parts of Huaraz we would never have found ourselves/any other tour available in the area. Experience with bikes is not a factor at all, Julio knows amazing trails for everyone! 10/10 recommend!!!

I highly recommend Julio’s tours! I’ve been on mountain bike tours all around the world and this was by far the most fun tour I’ve done! Julio was knowledgeable about the area, stopped to point out interesting features and great views, and took me on cool single tracks. Riding through the local Peruvian villages above Huaraz with the backdrop of mountains and glaciers was just incredible.
The bikes were excellent quality, well maintained with full suspension and dropper seatposts. Julio even swapped the front and rear brakes on the handlebars for me to better match my bike back home, which made the ride much easier for me. I felt safe the entire time and Julio was an amazing guide and all around great guy.

Had a morning ride with Julio, from the top of the valley back down into Huaraz. The bikes are looked after really well, their suspension worked perfectly. The trails were fun and the scenery beautiful.

Julio is an awesome person with lots of knowledge and experience. I had a great time. He will make sure to pick out a trail depending on your skill level. The bikes are great. I did a 1 and 2 day trip. He speaks great English. The support driver Mauro was really awesome too. I would definitely go again!

Absolutely wonderful experience. Would love to go back and do it again! Julio was helpful not only in our bike tour, but also in showing us around the town and making great recommendations for food, drink, etc.

We went mountainbiking with julio. It was awesome. The bikes are really good, and Julio knows aaaaaaal the chakinanis (singeltrails) in the area.

I feel so lucky to have met Julio and the Olaza family and got to spend five days hiking and mountain biking with Julio and Mauro. My boyfriend Jason and I went to Huaraz during Semana Santa and ended up going on two single day mountain biking trips and a hike to Laguna Llaca, as well as going on a 2-day biking trip and staying overnight in the beautiful authentic town of Yanama with panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range.
On the first day, Julio took us up into the Cordillera Negra. Although I am not as strong of a biker as Jason, this was the perfect first-day ride. With Julio’s knowledge and expertise of the area along with his full fleet of 29” full suspension Norco fluid mountain bikes, I felt like that combination made it considerably easier to go uphill and adjust to the altitude changes. I don’t think you can find that quality of bike (or guiding service) anywhere else.
The scenery and entire experience were unbelievable. We rode through villages with pigs, sheep, cows, burros, and barking dogs greeting us along the way. We rode through tunnels, snow, sun, and rain, around wildflowers, freshwater streams and illuminating lakes at the base of some of the Andes’ most famous glaciers like Huascaran and Ranrapalca.
After each day, we couldn’t wait to get up and do it again. It takes a couple of hours to get to the national parks from Huaraz, and Mauro was a great driver. He was always on time to pick us up, and safe going around those “curvas peligrosas”. On our hike to Laguna Llaca, we were able to beat the crowds and have the whole place to ourselves before the other tour buses showed up.
We do not mind paying more for a better experience, and that’s what you’ll get with Julio and Mauro. It was key to having a private car with a great driver (who played muy bien musica), and most of all, great bikes with a vehicle equipped with easy-to-clip bike racks.
We all call Julio the “sensi of Andes mountain bike riding” because of his knowledge of the area and his ability to challenge any type of rider. This truly was a one-of-a-kind experience. I wouldn’t have wanted to explore the Andes any differently, and we look forward to coming back.
