We visited this cemetery at sunset. The colors of the desert and the mountains around were truly evocative. Archaeologists have left some tombs open for educational and informative purposes. The mummified bodies are real and this makes the site a little macabre. Most of the tombs have been looted over the years and bones, pieces of clothing and pieces of pottery are scattered all around. The site can only be reached by car or with a tour, it is very far from the center of Nazca. The presence of a guide is essential to have some explanation (there are no information panels or anything else).

I was impressed by the history that surrounds this cemetery and discovering the Nazca culture by exploring its ancient tombs and mummies that are in perfect condition. I think it is highly recommended to visit when you travel to Nazca, but I suggest you go with a guide to understand what you see. You must go in a good car because the trail to enter is difficult.

If you are in Nazca you should go to see this little gem to the south about 30km by road and then about 7km by gravel road. Place unfortunately looted but leaving only the mummies that are still worth a visit. Undoubtedly it is noted that there are thousands of them hidden just that no budget is allocated to make such a place fully known archaeologically and encourage its visit. The mummies look impressive, desert place, wear a hat and water.

Very interesting place that aroused my curiosity and interest but there were hardly any explanatory signs. If you don't have a guide to explain to you, you have to look for information on the internet and it is not very extensive... as I said, recommended but with a guide

Ancient burial site for Huari and Nazca civilizations in the desert about an hours drive out of downtown Nazca. Very big area with well-preserved bodies in fetal positions looking eastwards towards the rising sun. Beautiful mountain backdrops also. Site tells you a lot about how these civilizations thought about the world. You really need a guide to get there as its in the middle of the desert, and also to explain what you are looking at.

Visiting this cemetery in the middle of the desert with the mummies and all their grave goods was truly fascinating, in addition to knowing the rituals of this ancient culture helped us more to understand the past.

About twenty kilometers from Nasca. “Easiest” access from the main “Pan American” highway Large signpost. Do not take the secondary road towards Chauchilla, there is also an access but poorly indicated (Plus it is a paid road, for a reason that escaped us) Entrance fee of a few sols to be paid on site in a small gatehouse. A slightly morbid curiosity, at the end of a difficult access track. About ten cavities with wrapped human remains (We suppose) topped with the skull (And sometimes long hair) After the astonishment of the first cavity, then it's repetitive. The whole thing was looted and then “Restored”. A few bones are scattered along the path. A very strange feeling in the end.

The guide, Ronaldo was very informative explaining the history and culture of the site. Although a bit macabre it was amazing to see these mummified bodies that had survived two thousand years, it managed to bring the history of the area alive.

Cementerio (o Necrópolis) Chachilla is a Nasca cemetery in the middle of the desert, close to Nasca. To get there, you need to take a tour or a taxi.
It's impressive. It's a pre-columbine cemetery, with open tombs and mummies accessible for you to see. You can explore it on your own and just read the (few) available information.
I have the feeling that this will be regulated quite soon, and it won't be as easily accessible.

No se pierdan esta atracción en medio del desierto de Nazca, donde tiene un recorrido armado que se hace caminando con senderos techados en alguno tramos, donde se puede observar infinidad de momias de distinots estratos sociales.

Personnellement, je considère que cela dépend beaucoup de l'intérêt que l'on porte au site et à ce que l'on voit. Les tombes ne sont pas très éloignées les une des autres et elles se ressemblent plus ou moins. Nous y sommes restés 1 bonne heure allant de l'une à l'autre...sous un soleil de plomb ! Bonne visite !

hola! si tiene costo y es hasta las 6 pm (al menos en la fecha que fuimos), ese pago de entrada da derecho a acceder otros sitios turísticos del sector, que vienen descritos en el mismo ticket.
