Sveti Stefan is a very nice place. We stayed there for a week in August 2024.
This is one of the places where we found the least crowded.
It seems very difficult to get there by car. Few parking spaces.
We were staying on site so we could go to the beach on foot. Family resort. A beach to the left of pebbles and a sandy beach (with pebbles in the water) to the right. Plan sandals to go into the water.
The peninsula is private but that does not prevent the site from being magical

We stopped on our way from Budva Old Town to Potgorica, the capital of Montenegro. A view spot overlooking Sveti Stefan Island, which juts out to sea like a land connection island. It is a citadel similar to an even smaller version of the old town of Budva, which was fortified after the 15th century under the rule of the Venetian Republic and served as a defense base against the Ottoman Empire. It is now a resort hotel and one of the tourist attractions in Montenegro.

The island and settlement of Sveti Stefan (Agios Stefanos), is one of the most characteristic images of the Riviera of Montenegro. It is located 6 kilometers south of Budva and administratively belongs to the same Municipality. Originally a fishing village, Sveti Stefan acquired its present image after the 15th century, when it now moved to the territories under Venetian control. The village was fortified and served as a defensive guard against the Ottoman Empire. Later, between 1934 and 1936, it gained the reputation of the resort for the blue-blooded around the world and the "high society", when it was the summer Resort of the Serbian royal family of Karajorjević. It retained this image during the time of Tito, but after the breakup of united Yugoslavia it experienced a period of intense decline. Today, the small island and part of the opposite settlement, belongs to the Sveti Stefan Hotel and is once again one of the tourist jewels of Montenegro. The view from the observatory Sveti Stefan great view, on your way to Budva is unique and definitely worth a stop for wonderful memorial photos.

We are still disappointed that access to this beautiful island is restricted. But you can get a good view from afar, which is what we did, and try to take some long distance photos.

We saw the island from a distance ... it looked beautiful but noting much to do there since it's an hotel and access restricted to residents...

Mirador perfecto para fotografiar bien la bellisima ciudad de Sveti Stefan. Ves despacio al acercarte en coche, para poder entrar en algún hueco del parking que es muy pequeño

We took part in a bus tour from Kotor to Budva. Our tour guide requested that our coach stop on a lay-by and our party disembarked to see one of the most spectacular views anyone could wish to see.
There is a small island attached to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Lovely buildings on the island and surrounding by dazzling blue sea.

While staying in Budva we had to see what Sveti Stefan is all about.
Local bus from Budva costs about 3.5 eurios, takes about 20 minutes.
The view of the island from where the bus drops you off is good. Probably a better view a little higher up on the main road I think, this is where the coaches stop.
The island itself, what is it, all locked up, shutters on all the windows looks like a secret sect hideaway. Guards dotted around the place only adds to this thought ! Strange really.
Walk back to Budva along the beach’s and paths, through the park past some posh looking private places, more guards, dodgy paths in places, a couple of very nice little coves and a tunnel through the rocks. Quite a way but very nice in places.

L'isola si può ammirare da vicino attraverso un bellissimo sentiero che "corre" vicino alla spiaggia, da cui si può godere un bellissimo panorama, ma anche dalla strada principale che presenta un comodo piazzale dove parcheggiare e fare foto.

Βρίσκεται λίγο πιο έξω από την Μπούντβα. Πρόκειται για ένα μικρό νησάκι,που από ψαροχώρι, μετατραπηκε σε resort. Σε κάποιο σημείο του δρόμου έχει απίστευτη θέα για να το φωτογραφισετε.
