On the road from Paraćin to Zaječar, despite the road sign, you should not turn towards the Gamzigrad spa because that road to the archaeological site is bad and narrow. The next turn for Felix Romuliana is the right one.
The well-preserved walls of the ancient city are surrounded by rich nature, through which it is worth the effort to walk to the Magura hill (about 2 kilometers). At the top are the remains of the tombs of the Roman Emperor Galerius and his mother Romuliana, as well as the elevations where they were deified. The view is simply perfect and it's nice to think that this is what led Emperor Galerius to choose Magura as his and his adored mother's eternal resting place.

Per arrivare fin qui, in località Gamzigrad,bisogna effettuare un percorso impegnativo, tra strade sconnesse e tantissima natura.
I colori all’interno di questo luogo mi hanno conquistato, persino le pietre sembrano brillare. 🤩
Siamo nella natura più pura a centinaia di km dalla capitale e a 10’ di auto dal centro abitato di Zaječar. 🇷🇸
Cenni storici: Sito romano risalente all’epoca di Diocleziano (costruzione intorno al 298d.C.) conserva ancora oggi quel che resta del palazzo di Galerio.
Cenni sulla mia esperienza: abbiamo la fortuna di arrivare qui intorno alle 17 quando da poco ha smesso di piovere e all’interno non c’è nessuno ad eccezione dei 2 ragazzi dei souvenir.
La biglietteria esterna sembra abbandonata ma forse la domenica è gratis?
Io penso cosi..
Nonostante la pioggia recente il sito si mantiene bene e quando in lontananza sentiamo un forte tuono decidiamo di avvicinarci all’uscita.
Intelligente (almeno credo) invito mio fratello a non avvicinarsi al negozio dei souvenir.
Perché?
Essendo solo noi presenti ero certo che ci avrebbero chiesto il biglietto e infatti così è..
Io, senza problemi, dico di essere un giornalista e di entrare gratis in tutta la Serbia mentre lui , seppur professore, è costretto a pagare.
Nel dubbio prendo subito l’uscita perché fuori inizia a piovere..

There wasn’t a lot to see, but the history of the place is already enough to capture a tourist’s attention. The people are also polite... the man selling souvenirs and the lady at the coffee shop.

Located near small town called Zajecar in Eastern Serbia, Felix Romuliana is one of the most important Roman sites in Europe. Great and knowledgeable staff will give you a good idea about how important this place was at that time. One of the places which you have to visit if you are in that part of Serbia

Na nekih 10 km od Zejecara nalazi se arheolosko nalaziste anticke rimske carske palate Felix Romuliana. Od 2007 god nalazi se na Uneskovoj listi Svetske bastine. Lepo mesto koje ne treba zaobici ukoliko dolazite u Zajecar...

Felix Romuliana is a great place to visit. You can learn a lot about the life as it was then. There is also a guide and audio guides in different languages.

Considered to be one of the most well-preserved archeological site dating from Roman times, Felix Romuliana offers you a glimpse of the once magnificent and truly authentic Roman palace. Its impressive ruins and unique collection of archeological artefacts will leave you speechless, especially if you're into Roman antics and history or archeology in general. The mere fact that this place has not been fully explored shows how much this place has yet to offer more! If you're visiting Eastern Serbia and you're aroung the city of Zaječar, do not miss to visit this amazing UNESCO Heritage Site! All recommendations!

Felix Romuliana are the remains of a Roman city, located near the town called Zajecar, in Western Serbia. Really, these remains are wonderful and you can see some of the most important buildings in the city. It is very well-preserved and after the visit to the ruins, you can go to the Archeological Museum in Zajecar to finish the visit. Really, if you are an history-lover and like Roman times, it is one of the remains most well-preserved in Europe. Very interesting to learn about history (not only from Serbia, from all Europe).

Nema vođenih tura.Ima "audio guide".Dobro obeleženo, lako se nalazi, ima parking, nema gužve, cene pristupačne, zaposleni izuzetno ljubazni i predusretljivi.Većina eksponata u Narodnom muzeju u Zaječaru- čime je upotpunjen doživljaj.Toalet je van kompleksa, bio pristojan u vreme posete.Nedostaje lokal sa osveženjem i kafom...

Yes, a day trip fro Belgrade is possible, but it takes about 3.5 hours by car, or in the best case 2.5 from Belgrade to Felix Romuliana.
