What an amazing visit. So full of history. Use one of the many guides who speak various languages if you do not already have one. If you go during the prayers times its hectic but you get to experience the music and view the tooth relic. Other times you can stroll the grounds and visit the museum. A must visit if you are in Kandy

It is a religious place. Very cool. You can calm your mind, it is a peaceful resting place. Many tourists visit it on weekends and public holidays. A beautiful lake can be seen near Sri Dalada Maligaya. It is very mind blowing. You can offer flower lamps to Sri Dalada Maligaya. You can buy flowers. There are many vendors. The place is really a calming place. It opens around 6 am and closes around 8.30 pm. It is a temple and a place to learn about the history of Sri Lanka.

There are several staircases to climb to reach this museum from the Tooth Relic Sanctuary. I sat down at the chair used by the employee of this museum. He was friendly and kind, speaks English as well.
The museum displays some ancient manuscripts, history of Buddhism or how it came to Sri Lanka, small statutes of Buddha, military cloth attires, etc. Note that taking pictures at this museum and other ones in the Complex is not allowed.

The Sri Dalada Maligawa museum is located on another wing on the first and second floor of the complex. You need to pay a fees to enter and have to follow the dress code.

Kandy is the cultural of Sri Lanka the city is an important place of pilgrimage for Buddhist because of the famous temple of the Tooth Dalada maligawa temple Here the sacred tooth of Buddha is kept in a golden stupa.During prayer you can take a look at it.The room where the tooth is kept and you can see hundreds of miles on it and. Including many monks In the temperatures complex you will also find several museums and important buddhist relics. But kandy has even more to offer . You can visit the botanical gardens and the picturesque lake in the heart of the city,the atmospheric old quarter and the wood and precious stone workshops where you can by hand made souvenirs. In the evening you can attend a traditional dance show

This is supposed to be a place of worship (temple) but foreigners are charged exorbitant fees. My son and I were not as we looked Sri Lankan but my son's wife was charged. When we informed them she was my son's wife, they wanted us to produce a marriage certificate. Who carries marriage certificates when travelling and which country issues passport in supposedly married names? This is the 21st century Sri Lanka, women don't change their names and passports are issued in the name you are born with......
Other countries should charge Sri Lankans higher fees in retaliation. My daughter-in-law refuses to visit places that charge her more than us. What discrimination!!

Het is hier ontzettend druk en de bezoekers vertrappelen elkaa bijna. De medewerkers van deze tempel zijn ook allesbehalve vriendelijk.

I thought it was interesting that you say they discriminated, but you had already paid two cheap admissions that you say weren't really valid.
