It is one of the best temple to visit & lovely sight seeing from the top. You can travel to the top from Mall road by Cable Car, but please buy your return tickets as it's very difficult to get tickets at the top . It's my advice buy your return tickets.
The temple is serene and a huge Statue of Shree Hanuman ji is there. And for shopping trinkets & other small souvenirs. There are many small stalls outside the temple. If you are going by Car you have to climb about 100 steps.
The Temple premises are very peaceful.

Jakhu Temple is situate on top of the highest peak of Shimla. This temple is of Lord Hanuman and the as the legend goes when Lord Hanuman was getting the Sanjeevani booti he stopped here to rest for a while. The Temple is surrounded by lush green cedar forest and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city.
Ways to approach: There are multiple ways to approach the temple.
1. You can walk to the temple covering a distance of around 3.5 KM from the ridge. The hike is moderate but you will need around 1 hour though it completely depends on your fitness levels
2. You can take a cable car, the starting point is above the bridge view hotel and you can walk from the Christ Church on the ridge towards the lift, it is around 0.5 KM from there. This will cost you around 260 one way and around 490 both way. Bear in mind though there can be a waiting for one hour before you get your turn for the cable car.
3. You can take a taxi, taxis can be hired either from the main city or you can go 1 KM beyond the cable car starting point to get a taxi. You will find many agents behind the church persuading you to take a taxi. This would cost you less than 500 depending on your negotiation
4. Shared taxi from HRTC, this can be taken from the Ridge and would cost you around 20-25 one way. This is not very frequent as generally only one cab operates on this route and is generally filled immediately.
Recently an escalator has been started, so you need to walk even lesser once you park the car or walk up from the ridge.
There are a few eating outlets on the top for refreshments including a nice café. There are a lot of monkeys there so you have to be careful you are not carrying lose stuff including sun glasses as monkeys would generally take them and negotiate them against something to eat. There is a room to keep your shoes, preferably keep your shoes there so you don’t lose them to monkeys.
There is a 108 ft tall idol of Lord Hanuman and is simply majestic.
All in all the place is holy, powerful and beautiful and must be in your itinerary when you are travelling to Shimla.

A slow ride as two gondolas go up and two go down. Only photos you can get are through scratched Perspex. At the top there is a large statue of the monkey god and a small temple but no good views of Shimla which is really why I went up there. Even the overweight monkeys appeared lethargic about it all. The children’s playground appeared neglected with broken rides. All in all a disappointing experience. I could have given 500 rupees to a beggar with young children and probably made a difference. I should have listened to a tour guide who told me it was nothing special.

Bestest place which you can’t miss. At the highest point of the mountain, you can see Hanuman ji standing tall and almighty. Going to the place is very convenient now with the escalators. And Sunday and Tuesday are very busy. Every Sunday there is Bhandara - you must try.
And if possible do read hanuman Chalisa there 🙏

The travel to Jakhau Temple from our hotel in Shimla was picturesque. We walked up to the temple and had a very nice darshan which was calm and peaceful. Spent some more time around and returned back humming hanuman chalisa.

Must visit place while you are in shimla
This picturesque spot is perched atop a hill, accessible via a well-maintained cable car—an option I highly recommend over taking a taxi, but if you want experience breathtaking views of shimla then use cable car I used that and it is worth . The summit offers tranquility and breathtaking views. However, be mindful of the numerous monkeys and keep all food securely stowed in your bag.

This is one of the most iconic tourist spot while you are at Shimla. A tall statue of Hanumanji is almost visible from far away Shimla mall road. Any social media reel about Shimla is incomplete without featuring the Jakhu temple.
To visit this iconic temple, one can avail Rodeway or one should hire a car with very good driving skill as the road to reach to the parking spot is bit challenging. After reaching to the parking spot there is a provision of escalator to the main temple.
Just entering into temple area one can not miss that gigantic structure of Hanuman ji. Apart from the structure one can roam around the place and visit associated temples. Place has been kept very clean. Little bit precaution is necessary as this place is full of monkey who can snatch your items anytime.

This was my 3rd visit and every time I go my experience is divine . It’s a very clean temple with the essence of hanuman ji in every bit of the temple . Whether it’s the monkeys , orange color , the bhajans , hills , peace , everything makes you feel alive and you don’t want to go back . I always go by waking it takes 20 minutes maximum. It’s not very hard walk if you’re into fitness you can easily reach there within 30 minutes. This place is a must visit when in shimla.

It's a beautiful place to visit. Not just the temple but the way to reach the temple is also nice. You can use either ropeway or car. You also can trek to the temple. Ropeway is pretty expensive and is only for about 5 mts but it's ok to use it once.
The place is full of monkeys, but they are harmless. ( Yes they may try to snatch stuff from your hands esp if it's food)
The 108 feet tall Hanuman is worth seeing. It is believed that when Hanuman was carrying Sanjivani mountain for lakshman, he stopped to take a rest here.

Extremely difficult to move wheel chair, would not recommend taking chance.

Is it safe to wear glasses ie, vision glasses if planning to trek to the temple ? Also how much is the cost of 1 way cable car ?
撰写日期:2019年3月19日
It is safe to wear glasses. Trek is not as difficult as people say. Cable car will charge an adult INR 300 one way.
撰写日期:2019年3月20日
Only met department can answer that. Till now there is no snowfall in shimla and around. Snow in march is very unlikely.

Walk! I am 56 and it took 40 mins. Take a stick to wave at the monkeys and don’t wear glasses.

i want to carry camera dslr on jakhoo temple, but i am confused due to monkey problems, any suggestions?
撰写日期:2017年10月31日
if you want to carry it then take pictures and then keep it in the car as anything you have can be taken by the monkeys

is it ok to carry sidebag for my wife to carry on jakhoo hill, I mean will monkeys snatch purse too
撰写日期:2017年10月30日
Sidebag would be fine I guess, however recommend not to carry!

Local people traditionally visit Jakhoo in winter. It is the highest point in Shimla hills so most likely to have snowfall. People who like to see or play in snow go there in Jan-Feb. The walk up is steep but should be easy. Monkeys is a permanent problem in and around the temple, has always been since i was a child but who can argue with faith.

How we travel in rope way. ? How much distance cover by it and what is the cost.
撰写日期:2017年7月6日
you have to go behind the church on the ridge and take a level walk for about 15 min and then the rope way takes you to the top. iew is good from the ropeway though it is quite expensive especially if you are traveling with a whole family. A taxi may be cheaper. the cheapest is a state transport bus which runs between the ridge and Jakhoo. the most pleasant way of course if to trek. especially if there is a little snow but be careful of slipping in the road.
