Such an amazing cooking experience. Neelam and her family were lovely and a joy to be around. Definitely a “must” if visiting rishikesh!

We were told to take this class by a friend who had done this 2 years ago - we were SO happy we did this! Amid and his Chapati Queens were so welcoming and kind. They really made you feel like a guest in their home. We learnt all about how spices are not only for cooking but for healing (which we LOVED). There is so much to learn from Amid and his family, this is a must if you are in Rishikesh!
Amid helped us with so much outside of what we could ever have asked. He was so helpful and kind to us. We had told him that we were visiting Rajasthan after (which is where his family is from and where all his spices come from), he invited us back for tea to tell us where we should go.
We are so grateful for Amid and his family. Please if you haven't already, take this class and enjoy the amazing food!!

Nos hicieron sentir como casa! Cocina,os mimos mientras charlamos y respondieron a gusto todas nuestras preguntas sobre la cultura India. Recomendamos mucho sus clases y el hermoso proyecto de su negocio familiar, para dar a conocer sus cultivos de especias. Los adoramos!

In Rishikesh, a friend of mine took a class with Amit and Neelam. I tagged along and enjoyed the food. I went back with another friend to learn how to make two dishes, just before I headed back to the US. I've been practicing the recipes and am now ready to make them for friends. Thanks so much for your help and friendship. I will come back for more classes next year. I wish I had bought more spices from you too. Next time.

As a fervent food addict I've traveled 2 months through India jumping from one cooking class to another food tour. This is easily the best cooking experience of my trip.
First their skills are excellent. They master mean dishes from every region of India.
Second, they not only know how to cook but how to teach it as well. Very clear step by step explanations and a tremendous theoric knowledge about ingredients and spices.
Important but often too rare, you won't have to trade authenticity for safety issues. Amit and his wife Neilam cook real Indian food while being well aware of our concerns as travellers. You won't ever use tap water. The kitchen is always clean. Everything is made to make you feel confortable.
Finally, I have to state that cooking masala is run by the most kind and thoughtful people you could hope for. Honest, caring, and knowning Jaipur like back of their hand.
They do best to make you feel at home and when you know that the profits of their class goes to charity, I don't see how it could be better.

We bumped into Amit in a shop in Rishikesh and he invited us to have a warming cup of tea on a cold evening. We ended up talking about teas and he invited us to his house for a quick lesson on making the perfect masala chai. His cooking business sells some of the best spices in India so you'll meet not only the perfect gentleman but also get some great cooking tips and spices; including an amazing masala chai. Thank you for that cup of tea!

This was honestly my favourite part of my India trip.
I had no idea what to expect when I arranged a cooking lesson with Amit- when I walked into Amit and Neelam's space, I felt so welcomed and the atmosphere was very warm.
Neelam is so sweet and talented; her teaching is very good and her food...oh my goodness. Best food I ate on my India trip.
Amit is also very sweet and knowledgable with spices and cooking. Their son is adorable!
Altogether, this was an amazing experience that made me feel at home. I am looking forward to my next cooking lesson and I highly reccomend that if you have the opportunity, take a cooking lesson with Cooking Masala!

A aula de culinária indiana que fiz no Cooking Masala foi excelente, superou todas as minhas expectativas! O instrutor, Amit, foi super atencioso, e ficou quase 6h cozinhando comigo e com meu amigo. Nós mesmos escolhemos um dia antes quais pratos queríamos aprender, e saímos da aula com um conhecimento bem amplo, de entradas, a pratos principais, pães indianos e sobremesas! Recomendo muito!

I stayed in Jaipur on my 5 month travel in India, and no where more so than with Amit and his family was I made to feel more at home. The cooking course was fantastic, and although I was taught a lot about the different dishes and spices the relaxed and homely surroundings made it very easy to absorb the knowledge. I am a big fan of healthy eating, and I was able to adapt some of the dishes to suit my personal preferences which was great. Overall it was an amazing experience, and I would advise anyone interested in Indian cuisine and culture to participate in the course!
