Even though in many aspects this is an unremarkable and smallish Victorian church on a very busy road I recommend to pop in to admire the pictures. A few shiny, colourful, bold and thoroughly Indian images depict Jesus and Christianity in a style mostly associated with Hindu imagery; I found ‘Space’ Jesus and the red lights behind the cross particularly awesome.
The visit only requires a short time and as this is a fully working church a respectful attitude is a must. The front porch is a good spot to take photos of the majestic Madras High Court across the road and a church itself with its benches is perfect for a short break while visiting central Chennai.

This church overlooks the High Court in George Town. It was formerly known as the Old Evangelistic Hall of the Madras Free Church Missionaries as a gift from the Christians of Scotland and dedicated in 1859 after the Rev. John Anderson who founded the Free Church Mission.
