We agree with the just ok reviews. If you go to the office (from the entrance on Virginia St drive straight ahead) you can get a free driving/walking guide with some of the history and more interesting sites. Nothing really monumental but a acceptable hour or so.

Being in town over Memorial Day weekend I felt obliged to stop by and pay my respects to fallen Soldiers. This cemetery has no shortage of that with sections for Soldiers from the Civil War and more modern wars. it seems rather large with lots of interesting markers and headstones. There were flags all over for the honoring of those who gave their lives for our country. I didn't take in the whole cemetery but I am certain it is a good walk around it for exercise and scenery.

Weird to be rating a cemetary, but here goes...

Other than the military graves and Jewish section, it didn't seem to have much there of interest. Few interesting headstones, but not much else. That said, I could be biased by my trips to Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetary & Arboretum, which, between the incredible array of beautiful headstones/family crypts and stunning grounds, is one of the best cemetaries in the US. Sorry, but it was kind of meh...

Was a very interesting old cemetery to walk around. Tried to find some of the graves that others mentioned but wasn’t able too. Did find the confederate part and some of the older sites.

First of all go during the day... they have some graves that are a couple hundred years old or more. Kinda exhilarating!

One of my hobbies are visiting older cemeteries, I found it to be well maintained and kept. Don't miss this stop while in Mobile, some beautiful neighborhoods in this area.

Many interesting grave markers to see as you wander through this large cemetery. One suggestion is that you be careful walking on the grassy areas, especially if it recently has rained; they are very soft (also a good reason to take care about where you drive)! There is an area for Confederate dead where six generals are buried, most notably Braxton Bragg. Adjacent to the Magnolia property is an area set aside for US dead, many of whom died in battles around the Mobile Bay area.

We went to this cemetery because locals told us that one gentleman was supposedly wrongly accused. He told them if after he was executed if a tree grew from his grave he was wrongly accused. A tree grew but some say he had acorns in his pocket.

I’m one of those people that likes to visit cemeteries as I feel it can give you an interesting historical perspective of the local area.

At this location there is also a national cemetery with a good number of Confederate soldiers. As you walk about you’ll notice a good number of unique headstones, many dating back from the mid to late 1800’s. There is evidence the smallpox or perhaps consumption epidemic which took place in the 1880’s.

Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful gothic cemetery - they also have something called the Avenue of Heroes where they fly flags on Veteran's Days and Memorial Day every year from flags of veterans that have been donated by families. The flags show the names of the particular person and their rank in the military. It's a wonderful tribute to our veterans from various wars including WW1 and WW2. My family donated my grandfather's casket (memorial) flag to this cemetery (we're not from the Mobile area, but they accept flags from any veteran in any part of the nation). It's a fabulous way to honor your loved ones military service.
