Using the course (9 holes) worked out pretty expensive so I spent an hour at the range. For £25 I hired 4 clubs and had unlimited balls, it was good, double decker ranger and thankfully had a cooling fan.
Also had a nice bar overlooking the course to have a beer afterwards.
Great way to tune up the game when in central Shanghai.

9 hole golf course located in Hongqiao. The course could be better maintained but is nevertheless pretty nice. I like the idea of the location and 9 holes is pretty much what I can muster during the summer heat anyhow. They have a Monday deal going for about 260RMB, other weekdays are 360RMB and weekends are 450 or so. By no means cheap for a 9 hole course.
The staff do not speak English. If you are from out of town and staying in a hotel, have the Concierge arranging it for you.

Terrible course. Not worth paying even 1 cent.. no water in the toilet.. entire place run down.. tee box fairway bunker green have no msintenance. beyond description.. my rating minus 100

The course was in horrible shape. Thick weeds were growing on the T box, sand traps and on the greens making it impossible to putt. No cutting of the rough so if you hit in the rough it was impossible to find your ball. No signage at all marking the hole number or direction to the next hole. Club rental was a joke and I barely assembled a full bag of mismatched old clubs.
The evening golf lights are no longer in operation.
The driving range however was decent- $20 US for one hour.

I turned up here having booked over the phone for 18 holes with a friend, neither of us speak fluent Chinese but we could converse enough to get out on the course. After we had changed into some pants they gave us and we had purchased some Golf Balls we met Lin, our caddy.
We didn't want a caddy but i'm glad we agreed, for a girl that doesn't speak much English she certainly knew how to explain the course and even improve my swing. A fun afternoon and I will go again next time I visit Shanghai. It was great to see a full 18 hole course hidden away in between all the tall buildings and traffic. It was actually a fun and relaxing experience

日本人の多い古北地区からクルマで５分程度、本当に街の真ん中にある９ホール。前々から奇になっていたので行ってきました。
ショートコースですが、パー４が３つ、パー５がひとつ。パー３もバックティーからだと長いところでは２００ヤードあり、池の絡むホールも多くかなり手強い。
また、グリーンは赤旗、黄旗があり、赤旗のほうが距離があります。どちらを選んでもOK.
特筆するべきはフェアウエイ、グリーンのコンディション。普通のゴルフ場と変わりません。
ネットなどでの予約はできず、中国語での電話予約となります。ただし、土日でも空いているので、特にコンペなどが無い限り予約なしで行っても大丈夫でしょう。
また、打ちっぱなしが隣接しているので、それと合わせて練習というのもいいと思います。係員に頼めばカートで連れて行ってくれます。
９ホール週末価格４８０元。２０１４年末まで２人以上、予約の場合に限り８０元割引になっています。
打ちっぱなしは虹梅路側、ゴルフ場は虹許路側と入り口が異なるので気をつけてください。
ロッカー、シャワーあり。（ロッカー使うか？＝换衣服吗？（ファンイーフマー）と聞かれます。）

- possible to play without membership
- easily accessible by a taxi from central Shanghai (25-30rmb)
- giving the location it is quiet and peaceful (only 20-30mins from downtown)
- very well maintained
- my caddy was friendly and useful as he knew greens quite well and helped a lot with reading them
- reasonable price for Shanghai golf (9 holes on weekend for 480rmb + 50-100rmb caddy fee)
Cons
- booking only via phone call by a Chinese speaking (my assistant called to book a tee time on Friday morning and there were still many available starts on Saturday)
- only the receptionist spoke very little English, the rest of the personnel not a word
- difficult to pay by a card

9-hole course with large double greens and sometimes up to 6 tee boxes per hole. It would probably play standard length of Black tees, sometimes 50 yards difference. Red flags are really challenging, often tucked away, so tee shots vital for approach. Fairways are beautiful and greens quite undulated, running quite true, but due to the nature of this course, so much 'traffic', therefore the greens not running as quick as could be.
