Arrived on a Saturday afternoon, found the visitor centre closed. Drove round the road, the place was deserted. Found a few buildings and were just about to leave when we saw a couple coming out of one so we tentatively went to investigate. Found some good taxidermy displays and information on snakes, some alive some not!
The place has great potential but we were uncomfortable being alone in such a large and deserted place.

Wanted to stop on the gift shop and center but unfortunately although it was 3:30.. and signs all say open till 5- it was locked up tight. No signs stating they would be closed. Disappointed. However, beautiful grounds. Clean.

Nice walking trails, great visitor center, and nice place to launch kayaks!--all make 5 Rivers a really cool place to visit.

Super quiet on the day we visited -- no workers or tourists seen until the end of our visit (and then we only saw 2 employees). We wandered around the dock and the discovery center, took some pictures, watched a short film, and enjoyed the displays. We enjoyed the live animals the most! They had baby opossum and two screech owls that were fun to watch. It wasn't what I was expecting, but was worth the stop.

5 Rivers Delta Resource Center has a gift shop, three building education center, conference center, kayak/canoe and boat launch. There is a larger pavilion with many picnic tables. The restrooms are extremely nice and well cleaned.
These building are surrounded by well kept grounds with a mix of paved and dirt walking/ biking trails. We had a blast geocaching here.

The view and the natural surrounding encompass you with wonderful aromas, sounds and views. When it is open the building have many informative pics and displays. Great learning tools for your natural surroundings.

This is a small interpretive center with some paths to walk around. It has some interesting displays in a few buildings. They have a movie that talks about the nature start of Alabama to today. The movie is very well done and very informative. Learnt stuff I did not know. The place is free and only takes a couple of hours. The movie is about 45 minutes.

You can learn a lot about the animals of the delta area here. Some are live and others are mounted. The outside decks provide a beautiful view of the delta/river area. This is well-worth your time, perhaps a little hidden and out of the way.

I am a native Mobilean but I never tire of going to 5 Rivers to just look out over the Delta and enjoying the exhibits there . It always leaves me with a peaceful feelling and a love for my wonderful surroundings.
