Beautiful, non commercial gem! Only a handful of people there, staff was very friendly! I loved that it was a family place!

OVERVIEW:
This is easily one of my favorite activities in the 4 trips I've taken in CR. An absolute muat see if you're in the area.
THE GOOD:
- extraordinarily natural falls, pretty highn with a swimable bassin at the bottom, but you have to walk in the water and on rocks to get there (bring water shoes!) But once theren you are in a knee-high bowl with falls surrounding you and modest current so you can stand on thesandy bottom - spectacular and surreal!
- max 25-30 min hike in the shade, with a few mildly steeper inclines but with straight portions in between. Good areas to grip your feet on (steps, roots and rocks) all allow for solid footing.
- minimal cost : 1000 col for parking, 1500 col each.
- a significant number and variety of butterflies when you get close to the falls
- bathrooms at the top and bottom
- very few visitors. We spent 45 min alone and only crossed othera on our way back up (we were there early)
THE UNFORTUNATE:
- Few birds and wildlife
- dangerous rope and board bridge at the bottom that is not closed off but has planks that are missing
- although trail is relatively easy and short, there are lots of leaves that can be sometimes slippery
Definitely recommend

So the waterfalls are beautiful! BUT if you have bad knees, hips or back, is risky. I have all 3, and it took me 1.5 hours to get down and 1 to get back. The trail is, in my opinion, not maintained for people who are not young and/or fairly fit. It is steep, goes up and down, over tree roots and rocks. At one point I sat down and scooted. My hubby was kind and pulled me up or braced me when I had to step down. I used 2 bamboo walking poles, and they really helped. I will be in a lot of pain from this. If you go, bring water. If you have bad joints, mobility issues, or balance issues, I'd think twice about it.

Awesome waterfalls. Quite a hike to get there but worth it. To see the second waterfall, you have to cross the pond at the bottom of the first and walk a rocky trail, again worth it.

It's a hidden paradise
The water is very cold and transparent.
It is not suitable for older people and very small children since access is very complicated in my opinion. It's slippery.

Long hike down to and up from the falls, awesome when you get there, take a chance and wade/climb to the 2nd waterfall.

THIS PLACE IS CLOSED! The trails are dangerous. do NOT go! There were trees down and erosion. It is privately owned by the water company, I think. We were trespassing...

A moderate walk to the falls but very well worth it. The falls are spectacular! Not a lot of people and places to swim. Bring a lunch and spend the day!

I would say yes, we went last week with my 7 year old nephew and he really enjoyed the hike, most of the trail is under trees so the sun is not that bad.

Hi,
Is the new path to Los Chorros a long and/or difficult walk? We are planning a trip in February and have a few older people that will be with our group. I want to make sure it isnt too difficult for them.
Thanks!

Has anyone been to Los Chorros in the last two or three weeks? Is the road down to the parking lot passable with small SUV, or is it necessary to hike into the falls from the top of the road?
撰写日期:2017年12月29日
I have not been there in the last three or four weeks but a little longer than that, but I was there during a rainy season so like 2 months ago and it was possible to enter with a four wheel drive let alone SUV would also pass. But right now i would say it is more colder i mean colder costa Rican temperature. For them everything below like 40 is cold. So not much mud or water, only once in awhile. Also even if you cannot get it by the SUV and you really want to go it is only a short walk 😊

I don't remember exactly but it was no more than $3 - $5 and it's about a dollar cheaper for Costa Rica residents.
