Has a great afternoon rafting with Wave Expeditions. We did the lower Sarapiqui, class 2 and 3, and as first timers, it felt very safe, yet exhilarating! Josep, our guide, was outstanding! Thank you guys for providing a great first experience. We also loved the lunch stop, where we saw two awesome iguanas very close. The chocolate tour at Don Juan was fantastic too! We can’t wait to raft again!

The Balsa River is amazing and our thrill-seeking teenagers were not disappointed, -even with the Class II-III experience. Lots of white water rapids - at least 9 thrilling parts of the river. Our guide Antonio was an Ace. Next up was the zipline and one of my teens said, "usually zipline rides are underwhelming, but these definitely met my expectations". I personally felt I got my money's worth after the first 2 ziplines - they were the longest, fastest, steepest ziplines I've ever done - with the most breathtaking views, especially the one of the Fortuna Waterfall. Do this!

We did the class 2-3 rafting trip and then had lunch with wave. The company is well run and transportation was efficient. The guide on the river and well trained and personable. We had a great time overall. The lunch on the way back was delicious.

Christopher was awesome as a guide. Made it super fun. Highlight of our vacation. All the staff were thoughtful and shared much about Costa Rica. Our package included the lunch (huge) and a sugar cane talk and a little moonshine. Went with family of 6-all 18 or older. Now we want to do the 3-4 class trip. Would do this again in a heartbeat!

WOW - what an amazing family Sarapiqui River Rafting adventure. We brought our daugthers who had never rafted before (11 and 15) and their 86 year old grandpa. Siviano was our bus guide and we also lucked out to have him as our boat captain. He made sure the grandpa was safe and that we all knew what to do. Both girls said this was (so far) hands down their favorite activity in Costa Rica despite the rain and getting soaked by the rapids. Great memories of a family trip to last a lifetime.

The full day rappelling/canyoning and white water rafting was the best day of our vacation. In fact, Wave and Pure Trek do such a great job that we did this experience both times we visited Costa Rica!
Everything is so well planned and organized, and the guides couldn’t be better or friendlier. Mariano made the rafting experience feel personal by taking the time to point out animals along the way and taking a route suited to our family and skill level. Our kids (16, 14, and 12) could not stop smiling and laughing.
We recommend this experience wholeheartedly and wouldn’t dream of vacationing to Costa Rica without including Wave and PureTrek as part of the trip.

Fantastic!, that´s a great way to try something new!, this combo is one of our best sellers, people really love the combination of Rappel down Waterfalls and Paddle Hard the Rapids Class II & III of Balsa River.

Best adventure ever! My mother, daughter and myself, 3 generations rafting with our great guide Maika, I strongly recommend this activity if you are in the Arenal area, Alonso explains everything perfectly on the way, Javier is a great driver and Mariano is a great guide too! you don’t want the rapids to end! but when they do, they give you a nice plate of fruits and then they take you for a nice well deserved lunch. Thank you Wave Expeditions! Looking forward to see the photos that Alonso took!!!! Pura Vida!!!! Thank you again for a beautiful unforgettable experience

Has anyone who booked an adventure with this company received a refund? We had a trip for late March that we had to cancel due to the pandemic. We cancelled well in advance and have been told for over a month and a half we will get a refund, but nothing has shown up. Am hoping others can share any experience they have had.

It was raining when we went rafting and they said it makes it better because the water levels are higher.
We zip lined with another company while it was raining and it was still a lot of fun, just a bit more muddy.

Hello. My family of four would like to book the Ziplining & 2/3 Water Rafting Combo Tour. The only day we can do it is the morning after our arrival night. We will be arriving to our hotel the night before after a long day of traveling. I noticed the start time listed for this combo tour is 7:30am. Ziplining & Rafting combo is sure to be the highlight of your stay in La Fortuna!.
With a minimum of 3 people, we can offer you to start at 10:30 am with the Rafting tour and Zipline starting at 3:30 pm. We will be finishing the adventure at 5:30 pm!
Take in mind that transportation is included from your hotel, we just change the Zipline from the morning to the afternoon.
Lunch, beverages, and snacks are included.

You’ll be fine with that. There’s a bit of walking but nothing too long. You have to wear a harness the entire time that goes around both legs so shorts should be long enough for the straps to go over them. Harness might not be comfortable on bare skin. Pictures on the websites will show you how it fits.

They really want to do the zip wire plus level II rafting

I have 2 water mad children as well! Our min age for the zip line and rafting combo is 8 years old, however I have an option that might work for you. We can go ahead and book your family for the Zip LIne and Rafting Combo. Your entire family will do the zip line portion together and then we will head to the river. For the river section what we can do is have the 6 year old and 1 adult skip the first section of the river which is the harder class 3 rapids and then they can meet up with the rest of the family about half way when the river has more manageble class 2 and 3 rapids. You will head to the put in with the family and then just do a bus ferry with our driver a little above the mid way point and then hop in the boat with your family. This way its just a small portion that you are missing and everyone gets to have a great day together! If this works please make the reservation on our web page and put in the notes the ages of the children and that 1 adult and 6 year old will do 1/2 section. You may have to reserve the 6 year old at 8 years old for our system to take the reservation and just in the notes let us know that she is 6. Hi Dennis....
Great to hear you will be joining us on the river next month. The rivers here in Costa Rica are younger rivers and that means they are actually quite shallow in most parts. The depth various throughout the river. Every client has to wear a lifejacket and helmet and in the event that you do find yourself out of the boat this life jacket will help keep you you floating. Usually when people fall out of the boat the guide or the person closest to the "swimmer" will grab the shoulder portion of your lifejacket and use their body weight to pull you out of the river. Our second attempt if you are not next to the boat is to use the paddle to reach for the swimmer and pull them closer to the boat where the guide can pull them back in. Most falls happen quickly and the guides usually have clients back in the boat within seconds. We also have safety kayakers and other rafting boats that act as safety back up in case you do swim a rapid and are not near the boat.
Your safety guide will give you instructions prior to entering the river on what to do if you do fall out of the boat. The most important thing is to relax, keep your feet floating in front of you in a position we call nose to toes. You want to be able to see your toes floating.

I would not bring it: I also get cold easily, but the water was already warm in July, it was even a raining and cloudy day and I never felt cold. You will wear a tide life jacket and you are supposed to paddle ... quite a lot, so you keep yourself active enough to feel warm.
