The tour was well above expectation! Abbey our tour guide was very informative. She was knowledgeable and very well spoken. She happily answered everyone’s questions. She directed a chocolate making session which really made the tour extra special. The tour was also interactive. It was on a paved path under cover. We saw a squirrel and very colorful birds. Would highly recommend. Bring bug spray!!
Parts of the tour were fun like when we got to make our own chocolate bars. But it was difficult to stay engaged throughout the tour not sure if it was the tour guide or just the tour. Also we didn't get to do the sugarcane juice making not sure why.
Tour was guided tour with chocolate plants, coffee tasting with cookies, dark choclate sampling, Nutella, sugar cane juice sampling, hot cocoa drink and patiently explaining all the details. Guide - Isaac Gambeo was excellent
Absolutely amazing tour! Jostin was our tour guide and he did an amazing job explaining the coffee and chocolate making process. We also got to see a sloth and a toucan too. My kids loved making their own chocolates. I would recommend this tour to anyone! The shop had a ton of great gifts too!
Awesome experience. Very interesting learning about the making of coffee and chocolate. Didier was an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Actually, all of the staff were friendly. The coffee and chocolate were delicious and the God's Drink is amazing. You also get to make your own chocolate to take home as part of the tour. The shop is a bit pricey but that's Costa Rica for you. Definitely an experience I would recommend if you have the time while in the Arenal area.
Detailed explanation. Fun experience making chocolate. Not a coffee person but was amused by coffee making. Found an amazing drink (expensive though for it's size...name is God's drink...coco, chilli in it)
Really interesting tour. Very well informed guide who made it interesting and enjoyed the interactive parts. It was a particularly wet morning so ideal that the tour is undercover.
Our tour here was fantastic— thanks in big part to our amazing guide, Alex. So much to learn about chocolate and coffee production and in an interesting, entertaining and hands on way! Loved the natural setting but with comfortable paths and cover.
Saw birds, lizards & sloths. Made our own chocolate bars. Lots of tasting of coffee and chocolate. Great gift shop for purchasing souvenirs and gifts to take home!
Hola Kimberly,
We do provide transportation to Tabacon, but has an additional cost of $10 per person and apply only for the 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (The pick up would be at 9:25 a.m. or 1:25 p.m.)
Regards.
You could definitely do both in one afternoon. The waterfall doesn't actually take very long unless you decide to spend a lot of time swimming.
There's no reason why teenagers wouldn't enjoy it if they enjoy learning about things. It's relatively hands-on with things to try and get involved in too so you're not just being spoken at for the entire tour.
Can someone please advise how much it will cost us for round trip transportation from Heliconias Nature Lodge, Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica? Also can you recommend an transportation company
Hello Nikki,
we do not provide transportation from this hotel in particular, but a taxi from Heliconias one way will cost you $25 (I just quote it whit a taxi driver).
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
