Très déçu après tant de km
60 dollars pour aller dans un sauna à peine chaud à la limite de l’insalubrité
Puis un bain de boue dans une mare suivi d’une douche froide
Après bain dans un bassin chaud mais sans plus
La visite des fumerolles est la seul chose à faire mais sans un lieu en chantier

It was a phenominal day. We had two of the best guides EVER! Pedro and the driver (Edwardo, we think. Sorry) were beyond courteous, informative and patient. This was one of the best trips, if not the best, that we've done. Thanks guys.

We enjoyed our visit to the Hot Springs and mud baths at Las Hornillas. It took a bit of intestinal fortitude to take the cold shower at the end to “close the pores of your skin” but it was exhilarating. It was interesting to spend ten minutes in a sauna that is heated by a volcanic action 100% natural with no mechanical or other means of generation. It was a unique experience to bathe in the warm natural hot springs. It was amazing to think about how few places exist that allow one to do so safely. There was only one other couple (folks from Denmark) at the hot springs the day we were there. It was enjoyable to visit with them while relaxing in the warm pool, very laid back atmosphere and freedom to explore the thermal features of the volcano. We had a good time making fun of each other at the mud bath before showering off and relaxing in the warm pools. It was something that was noted on the “bucket list” of my sister-in-law so we were glad we could participate in that “check off” experience. Fun day! You can spend as much or as little time as you wish at this attraction.

Great time hiking, soaking and with mud bath. Lunch was an exceptional Costa Rican meal. Waterfalls were beautiful and everyone so friendly. Thanks Ronald our tour guide for suggesting this. @LiberiaTropicalTours.

We came here with our family of 6, four kids, and we absolutely loved the tractor ride and hike to the waterfalls, followed by a delicious lunch and then the spa experience. Even the kids loved the hot springs and mud bath. It was a great day!

If you go there don’t wonder and be scared. There is nothing around. That’s in the middle of nowhere.
It’s a small way to enter the place.
There a many small areas where the hot water coming out.
They have few different natural pools, a mud bath, natural sauna and more. The restaurant serve great dishes.

Well worth a visit for a day out or if you are looking for something to do in the area. It’s a nice drive up there and the natural hot springs are spectacular if a little smelly 😀 Take your bathing costume and enjoy the mud baths and hot water baths.

Wir sind von Bijagua aus zum Vulkan Miravalles gefahren (Tagestour mit Mietwagen). Die Gegend dort ist sehr heiß und trocken. Nachdem wir uns zuvor verfahren hatten, sind wir dann irgendwann an dieser lebensfeindlichen, nach Schwefel stinkenden Grube gelandet. An der "Rezeption" musste man $25 Eintritt bezahlen. Die Sanitäreinrichtungen und Umkleideräume sind total alt und dreckig, ich musste dort leidermal das WC benutzen (würg). Die "Hot Springs" sind einfach nur 3 kleine Pools, die absolut nicht einladen sind. Ebenso die Schlammgrube für ein Schlammbad ist noch weniger einladend. Wir sind einmal über das Gelände gegangen, haben uns das kochende Wasser und den kochenden Schlamm angeschaut (ja, das ist definitiv interessant wenn man es noch nie gesehen hat) und sind dann nach 15min wieder gefahren. Es ist alles wie im Horrorfilm und die Schwefeldämpfe sind wirklich "ätzend"! Davor wurde man übrigens nicht gewarnt. Fazit: der Eintritt ist zu hoch und die Zeit zu schade, schaut euch besser den aktiven Vulkan Poas an, das macht viel mehr Spaß!

It is entirely up to you! There is a trail and not long. There are hot springs where you want to stay forever and even the electric company has a tour that is normally taken by students about how the whole place operates to get energy.
So, you can take a quick stroll, take some pictures and also do the hos springs and get some healthy mud on you.
Have fun whatever you decide to do.

There is no hotel right at these hot springs. But yes we felt you could leave things in the car. Just be smart and don't leave valuables if you can and make sure everything is out of sight.

We stayed at Riu Palace Costa Rica which is about 1 hour drive from this location. There isn't much close to hear. I would recommend staying somewhere around Tamarindo. Very cool surf town
