Was very interesting, got to learn a lot about these animals. No favorite animal before but you can change your mind. Lucky there are these Sanctuary.

The tour offered is the only option this facility offers. It leads through two rooms with about 15 sloths in cages. Our guide seemed rather unmotivated. Questions are answered competently but somehow reluctantly. All in all, not very exciting.

We visited the slot sanctuary in Selvatura parc and paid 44usd p/p. The whole tour lasted 20minutes. This is a rip off. They keep 11 slots….who live there…. nice project but I.d rather speent my money in the zoo

I have mixed feelings about this sloth sanctuary. The indoor guide was very knowledgeable, but his constant use of phrases like 'as I already said' or 'as I said before' felt condescending to people asking questions. Despite having over 100 sloths, only about 12-13 are on display, though they are very cute and fun to watch. This was followed by a one hour boat ride with a second guide, Chris, who made the ride memorable by showing us animals and giving excellent local recommendations. It's worth experiencing once, but I probably wouldn't go again.

All sloths in this shelter have a rough past. Some have no legs, are missing an arm, are blind, are missing an eye or are partially paralyzed, have intestinal problems due to improper nutrition because they were kept as pets (which is strictly prohibited). The enclosures are adapted to the sloth's condition. The guide provides a lot of information and is very accessible to questions. After seeing the sloths you take a rowing trip of about an hour. It is a bit pricey, but we found that no problem supporting this shelter. Beautiful loving work!

We had a fabulous visit on a recent trip to Costa Rica. We enjoyed a canoe trip in the local waterway and then had a very informative tour with one of the employees of the sanctuary. We learned so much about sloths. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

A very nice experience from which you learn a lot and you can see the sloths up close, also with the boat it was a nice experience, the guide allows you to see a lot that you would otherwise just overlook, good tip: be sure to take mosquito repellent with you for both the boat as inside the sloths 🦟

Great too see the work being done here to look after sick, injured or abandoned sloths. Very knowledgeable guide and the sloths were simply adorable. Worth a stop.

Visited the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica as part of a shore excursion from a Ruby Princess cruise. This is a must-do if you are in the area. The staff if friendly, helpful and absolutely committed to saving the sloths. Their knowledge is exceptional. I recommend the "Meet The Sloths: Behind The Scenes - An Animal Planet Exclusive Tour" for an in-depth visit.

We weren't that impressed. The groups are split into two for two different rooms. Each room has a few cages in which the animals are "cared for". They tell us what each sloth has, one is blind, the other is simply too old. They all have a story and can no longer survive in the wild. The cages seem small and everything else looks pretty uncomfortable. To be honest, there is no loving animal care here. We have seen some more professional and friendly rescue centers on our travels. You don't get close to the animals. The whole thing takes less than 45 minutes. Lots of talking and looking at cages. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time in Costa Rica, but we could have done without it. The tour ended with a canoe trip through mangroves into the jungle. That was quite nice.

I believe that is for the experience of behind the scenes feeding the babies in the morning. We just paid the standard fee for the hour tour and thought it was great. Canoe tour wasnt opeerating due to COVID but we were still happy with the price for what we got. Would recommend also visiting the Jaguar rescue centre down the road in Perto Viejo. Loads of baby sloths sadly but soooo cute.

Hi, you have to take the tour. If there are cruise ships in at that day it makes sense to contact them before, to check at which time they have free resources.

Hola, estoy pensando visitar el santuario en diciembre por lo que estoy leyendo demasiada informacion y estoy indecisa sobre los Tours.
Me parece que en costos el Insider es extremadamente exagerado, podrían decirme si en verdad vale la pena o si mejor adquirir el tour normal?

We want to visit the sloth sanctuary, but want to know what available transportation out of Limon is there to either La fortuna, or Manuel Antonio? We want to fly from

we were on a cruise and booked the excursion through Princess and they included the transportation. We took the deluxe tour which was twice as expensive but we were able to visit the nursery and it was totally worth it! a memory of a lifetime!!!

Not sure on the taxi because we rented a car. It’s really cheap to rent your own vehicle if you can stomach the local’s driving:)
The sanctuary tour was 20.00 or 30.00 for the general tour. They offer a behind the scene tour that is well worth it for 100.00.
