The BEST surf instructor ever. I’ve tried to learn for years- and Darshan was patient, positive, fun, safe, and a true joy. He is not only an instructor but a surf guide. The school was easy to communicate with and attentive to details, in a relaxed manner. I felt very comfortable as a solo gal. Couldn’t be happier for their services. Go For It!

I had a couple of amazing lessons and will definitely be back!
All the instructors were great and incredibly dedicated, helping me stand up on the surfboard during my first lesson and guiding me to improve in every following session, sharing all their knowledge and experience.
I loved the Tuck Tuck rides and the occasional fruit-picking stops — it all added to the adventure.
Thank you for the wonderful experience, and I look forward to returning soon!

The best surf instructors in Puerto Viejo! This is our 2nd year working with them and this year we did 3 lessons as a family. One time was our entire family of 14 and these guys managed us with professionalism and made it so fun for all of us. Everyone was able to surf and my kids actually overcame their fears by the 2nd lesson. Thank you for taking care of my family, Surf the Jungle! I trust no one else 🙏

Surf the jungle surf school is the best surf school in town!
I attended a 2 hours group surf class in Playa Cocles, Puerto Viejo with Misael and it was fantastic. Small group, full attention from the instructor and great fun to connect with other guys!
It was my first time on the board and the lesson was amazing: we went through the general explanation of the board and the technique of standing on the board , which made such a difference when we went in the water.
First we went out in the shallow water to try and surd on the small waves , then we went out and it was the most fun experience I had in the ocean. With Miseal help and tips I managed to surf almost all waves during my first class and the feeling of surfing is SO UNIQUE and a blush of adrenaline. We stayed in the water for almost 2 hours and I wish it lasted forever.
Misael is so knowledgeable and passionate about what he does, very caring and supportive instructor. I felt taken care of and I had a great time in the ocean!
If you’re planning a trip to Costa Rica , Puerto Viejo - Misael ,Surf the jungle Surf school, is your guy!💓

Me and my friend took two classes with Misael and the other instructors. They really help you to catch those waves and you will get out of the water with a big smile and some ridden green waves. The explanation, the tipps, the passion - we couldn't have wished for a better experience. Big recommendation!

I took surfing lessons with Surf the Jungle with my two kids(12 and 14) in August. We had a great time with Misael and his crew. All of us were catching waves by the end of the first lesson. Misael was very encouraging and a pleasure to be around. We had originally planned for a 5 day lesson package but after enjoying the lessons so much, we did an additional 5 days. It was the best time that I had with my kids during their visit to Puerto Viejo.

Memo was a wonderful instructor and ensured the children felt safe and had fun we will definitely use him again - perhaps come for the week ! Thank you we had a super time - first time surfing !

I signed up for the camp. It was one of the best experiences of my life. The weather freakishly did not want to cooperate and the ocean was too calm to surf a few days so surf the jungle quickly pivoted and brought me on a slew of awesome adventures. Spent a lot of time with Misael, who may as well be the mayor of puerto viejo. He knows everyone, is super knowledgeable about all things Costa Rica, and is very inviting and fun to be around. Among some random things I saw him do to exhibit his personality is save a bird from the middle of the street, you would’ve though the bird was his pet. Just sitting on his shoulder, also climbed a coconut tree to grab some coconuts so we could could drink the water after a long hike. He’s a also great surf instructor. I consider him a good friend at this point. The lodging and healthy food at Tierra de suenos were also great. As were the yoga sessions. Super time with great people

I had the most wonderful and fun filled time surfing for seven sessions (spread over 10 days) with Surf the Jungle and learned so much. I had surfed before and was looking to advance my skill level by identifying and paddling into my own waves more often, riding down the line and beginning to carve. I was able to improve more than I had hoped when I booked the seven session package.
Misael is an amazing instructor and selected the best times and best waves for my skill level. We talked about what I was trying to improve and he identified what I needed to focus on during each session. I am now surfing bigger, more challenging waves and have expanded my comfort zone. Couldn't ask for more, but I got more because Misael and the other instructors who work with him (Darshan and Douglas) are so much fun, extremely talented surfers and always there to help, offer encouragement and provide pointers. It was such a great experience and I can't wait to return.
I highly recommend Surf the Jungle whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer because of how well run the school is and how dedicated Misael is to providing a rewarding experience. All equipment is provided if you don't have your own as is transportation from the school located in the centre of Puerto Viejo to the amazing surf spots.
