We usually plan our trips by ourselves. However, when I contacted Horizontes to help in transport logistics for our planned trip to Costa Rica, I was so impressed by Jose’s knowledge, tips and caring attitude that he family designed our whole itinerary.
He paid real attention to our needs and « must sees » and suggested exactly the type of lodging we needed in each part of Costa Rica we visited with optimal time in each. Jose was very honest with the challenges of the climate and lengths of travel between place and so kind and enthusiastic about Costa Rica and his treasures. Our trip would not have been the same without him.
In Costa Rica, we were treated like royalty by Horizontes, a welcome package with bug spray, sun screen, bandanas, a surprise for my son and cool water and snack for stretch of travel we had to do between places. Each chauffeur was also a nature guide and had expert knowledge of the country culture and history. This lead to unique experiences, such as a stop by the side of the road between San Jose and Tortuguero to observe a couple of Bat Falcons getting ready for the hunt of the day with a professional-grade birding binoculars.
We immediately felt the difference when we were transported by another agency. The service of this agency was good, but the Horizontes really stood out by providing the extras like the snacks, cool water (even coco water and aloes water, yum), and nature observing opportunities. Another plus was the suggested places for lunch or breaks along the way.
All the establishments selected by Jose were perfect for us and he really paid attention to our wishes to suggest activities for everyone in the family.
When my husband became sick, I discovered that Horizontes even provide assistance to find local medical help!! We did not need it in the end, but that is very reassuring.
Truly a perfect family trip in Costa Rica, it was so hard to leave… We want to come back one day and when we do, we will definitively have Horizontes design our trip again!!!

I took my 3 kids (22, 19 & 16) on a magical trip around Costa Rica and everything was organised perfectly by Horizontes Nature Tours. Their communication before, during and after the trip was second to none and they were very flexible and helpful in creating an itinerary that would suit us all, to meet our budget. The hotels were all of an excellent standard and the trips and guides they organised really made our adventure so amazing.

Jose planned an action packed vacation for our family. He had great suggestions, was very quick to answer questions and provide alternate options. His customer service is top notch. Our preferred hotel in La Fortuna, Tabacon Resort, was unavailable, but Jose booked us in the most luxurious Amor Arenal hotel which was a highlight of our trip.
We were unexpected routed to Panama for a full day when our arriving flight couldn't land in San Juan due to extreme fog. I was equally impressed with Andrea on the Customer Service team who contacted us to let us know they were aware of the issue and would keep our driver on standby at the airport. Throughout the day, Andrea responded back immediately to assure us that a new driver would be available whenever we arrived. We were very thankful that the team booked us complimentary at Ecoterminales hot springs when our flight delay caused us to miss the Tabacon resort day pass which I contracted on my own. The extra care and attention they showed really helped us put the travel issue behind us and we enjoyed our trip immensely.
All of the tour companies and drivers were wonderful and great experiences. We loved La Fortuna, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio. Thank you to Horizontes for a memorable family vacation!

Jose Huertas is the best! He planned and executed an eight day vacation in Costa Rica in June for seven family members including my young granddaughters. All through the planning and preparation for the trip Jose was helpful and quickly replied to my numerous questions. The activities and accommodations he selected offered variety and uniqueness, and met the needs and desires of the entire group, ages 9 to 83. All of the hotel personnel, drivers, and guides were courteous, well informed and punctual, and greatly enhanced our visit. A 24/7 phone contact allowed us to travel smoothly, without concerns. Hurray and thanks for a memorable experience to Jose and Horizontes!

My family and I spent a week in Costa Rica. We wanted to see as much as possible during this time. José made the planning process so easy and stress free. He took care of everything, hotel, excursions, transportation etc.. My family said that this was one of the best vacations they had ever taken. Thank you so much! You truly made this dream vacation a reality.

Jose and the team at Horizontes are fantastic. I highly recommend them. Jose designed a trip for me based on the things I told him when we spoke briefly on the phone earlier in the year. It was my first time going to Costa Rica and I was a bit nervous about getting from my airport to the hotel in the evening but someone from Horizontes met me at the airport, ensured I got through the airport, and onto the shuttle without issue. The rest of the trip which included a snorkeling tour at Cano Island and private-guide to Corcovado National Park was amazing.

Jose planned the perfect trip for us based on what I told him we wanted. Everything worked perfectly as planned, I didn’t have to worry about any of the details. Having a 24/7 contact for questions or problems gave me peace of mind, and when I did contact them with a question, the response was fast, accurate, and polite. Highly recommend!

This was the best 12 day vacation I ever experienced. The planning by Jose was perfect from the locations, hotels, and excursions. All the service people we came into contract with on the trip provided superior customer service. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and were able to find so many birds animals and insects. they would then with their scopes take pictures with our iPhones so we would have great pictures to bring home when you go to Costa Rica on a touring vacation expect a lot of hiking and terrain that is rocky and uneven. The roads are not always the easiest to traverse as some of them are dirt roads. The scenery on all drives were beautiful. We love the mountains the varied vegetation depending on your elevation and closest to the coast, I strongly recommend using Jose to help you plan. Amazing vacation to Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is a wonderful country with a wide variety of enviroments, geography, and experiences. I can highly recomend Horizontes as your partner to sort through the many opportunities. Thier guides and transportation specialists were always on time and very knowledgeable. It was easy to communicate with them as we prepared for our visit. I will use them again for future visits.
