Sehr schönes altes Theater aus der Zeit der Kaffeebarone. Das Café ist auch sehr schön!
Die Lage ist mitten im Zentrum von San José und die bekannteste Sehenswürdigkeit der Stadt.

I attended English tour and got a lot of interesting information out of it. The guides were very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Inside the theater is beautiful, especially if you like to take pictures!

Nice Theatre

If you decide to visit the centre of San Jose, then the National Theatre is worth a look. Imressive architechture and artwork. There are not many sites in San Jose worth seeing but this is one.

Disappointing

We arrived at 4 o clock as other people were entering. We were told it was now 4 and it was shut. We went to the cafe and had a nice coffee and cake. The foyer looked nice but never got to see the rest.

Beautiful building and adjoining café

Spent a lovely morning in the cafe and walking around the theater. I've seen some beautiful European Victorian era theaters but this has to be the most elaborate! Would love to visit when there's a performance. Staff are super friendly. This is a must see whilst in San Jose.

Wonderful experience, far exceeded our expectations. History rich learning made very enjoyable from the actors who were our tour guides.
Also, the best coffee bistros in town is in the lobby.

A delight in the heart of San Jose

Excellent guided tour of a lovely 19th century European style theatre in the heart of San Jose. Definitely do the guided tour, which is held hourly with alternate tours delivered in Spanish or English. Best value experience we found in the city.

Great Tour!

We saw the tour with Andres Chacon as our guide, playing Antonio Varela. He was very funny and entertaining. Playing the role of the character, he made the history come alive. We also met Claudia who designed the idea of having the tour guide be in character. What a fun way to learn history. It's a lovely building and definitely a worthwhile way to spend 45ish minutes. Everyone here was great and very friendly.
