Al-Hayl Castle is located about ten kilometers west of the city of Fujairah, it was once used by the ruling family of Fujairah. Built about two centuries ago, it played an important role in the defense of the area. Today not much remains except a tower which stands on the hill as a reminder of the days when these forts were scattered across strategic points in the Emirates. To see another fort, from Al-Hayl proceed south for about thirty kilometers towards the village of Wahlah

Tout d’abord je suis surprise par la 1ère photo qui ne correspond pas du tout a ce que j’ai vu. Les autres sont conformes. Pas très loin de Fujairah City, très belle route mais pour les derniers kilomètres, après le dernier village, un SUV est le bienvenu. On roule dans le lit du cours d’eau même s’il y a un semblant de piste. Le château est une tour et en contre-bas il y a le petit fort. Le tout bien rénové et entretenu. Le site est superbe, entouré de montagnes et oasis en bas. Pas inintéressant.

Une vue magnifique tout au long du trajet jusqu â ce fort. Très beau bâtiment atypique. Visite avec le gardien très sympathique. Le site archeo en contrebas complète la visite.

Good for a quick escape from the city.
Well maintained by a Caretaker company guide who explains the history and stuff. Good toilet facilities also available.
Any car can reach, but a small portion of road is damaged and irregular for regular sedans, but doable with care

A well preserved Fort and residence. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the trip into the countries history.

A lovely area, don’t get scared by the start of the road - any car would take you through - the road is partial (most) concrete but also partially rocky road but a sedan would work well.
It seems in the middle on the mountains, although quite close to Fujairah city. It’s a rural quiet area and it gives you a feel of the countryside in this area of the world.
The fort itself is the house of the great grandfather of the present Fujairah Ruler and is surrounded by the ruins of the small village that existed there.
The guide (security guard) was very welcoming, very knowledgeable, and lovely overall.
It is a good place to visit that takes you back in time and also closer to nature.

Loved the visit here. Its about an hour drive from Dubai and the drive is awesome too. If u are visiting Fujairah I would definetly recommend a visit here. We hung around the site for about an hour. There are caretakers who explained the history of the castle and the family who stayed there. The views are great and there are also clean restroom facilities near the site. All in all a good visit.
Just a heads up, it is pretty basic and the castle/small structure is empty. So use this site only as a stopover if you around the area.

Были там совершенно одни. Вместе с нами ходил сотрудник музея, который ключами открывал нам все помещения. рассказывал, а потом закрывал обратно. Весьма интересны лестницы в домах - это несколько бревен, вбитых в угол стены, а в потолке над бревнами узкая дырка-вход. Поэтому одевайте удобную обувь и воздержитесь от юбок.
Также стоит отметить дорогу: на последних 2-х километрах будет серпантин с грунтовой, с камнями и даже с мелкой речкой через дорогу, поэтому - только внедорожник!

les 2mirats réservent bien des surprises : il ne faut pas pas se contenter des délires dubaïtotes (génail au demeurant) mais aller se promener un peu partout dans le désert : il y a des forts magnifiques qui rappellent qu'un peuple fier et farouche était présent avant la découverte du pétrole, dont celui de Fujairah. Fujairah prochaine Dubaï ? c'est du moins la volonté de ses investisseurs.

Бывшая резиденция эмира Фуджейры. Была построена в 1930-ых, эмир жил здесь около 30 лет.
Смотритель откроет все помещения и проведёт небольшую экскурсию. Принудительной платы за посещение нет, но я в знак благодарности оставил 5 дирхамов.

Visiting the place with a baby - impossible? Where is the closest parking to the castle?

Depending on how much time you propose to spend there. There is an inclined open area around the attraction with a neem tree on one side. Other than that there are these thatched sheds made with date fronds and stones for walls, earth flooring though. Would not be too nice for a baby though. Suggest you drive up, spend a while seeing the place, have a snack if you feel like it and then drive down to Fujairah. Your baby would perhaps like the mule and her little one you normally see by the roadside on the way....enjoy your visit.!!

There is no as such visiting hours. You can go anytime between 9am to 5pm. Nothing much to see except the small castle. You can go to masafi market. Bithnah fort. Fujairah fort. If friday then must go for bull fighting

Hello!
I don't recommend you to stay there waiting for a sunset. This place is situated deep in the mountins.The locaion of it marked at Tipadvisor is wrong. Correct location is 25°05'05.0"N 56°13'36.2"E. The road leads there looks more like one-way unpaved path than a good road. Also there are some steeps alongside the road and no barriers. So it might be dangerous to drive there in the dark.
