I visited Yap a few yeas ago and sort of stumbled on this place with the help of Lonely Planet. It is located inside a swank hotel, out of place for Yap, and houses the most extraordinary collect of indigenous arts and crafts. Locals are taught to use materials and techniques used by their ancestors, so the stuff is the real thing not for tourist alone. The Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the local art ways. It's definitely worth a visit even if you aren't shopping for art. If you are, it's all for sale.
