If apache peak is open when you go, be sure to ski there. Apache peak has beginner, intermediate, and expert trails. Some people don't even know that it is part of the ski resort because it is kind of hidden. To get there, take the lift to the top of sunrise peak and ski going straight down the other side of the mountain mountain.

We love Steamboat, just love it. However, Sunrise was a wonderful surprise. The staff was wonderful. The runs were well groomed. The prices were right too! What a hidden gem. Coming back for sure.

Customer service there is the worst that I’ve ever experienced. No covid rules are enforced even though there are signs for masks. When talking to guest services we had to ask a staff member to please wear her mask and she said she didn’t have to because she was behind glass. The glass she is talking about has a couple port holes for talking through. So direct ventilation to us. We tried to explain that to her but then she said that she could just deny us service and then walked away. Yes, you heard that right, we got denied service for asking her to wear a mask. We left. If you think you can social distance and care about covid here you can’t. Flagstaff has 100% better covid restrictions so I would try there instead.

Most of the staff was friendly except one who didn’t seem to want to be there in rentals. Other than that it was nice. Due to COVID there were strict guidelines which was to be expected but overall it was pleasant. The only thing that would have made it Great was more snow. But they have no control over that. Maybe next time

While it is true that Sunrise is the best place to ski in az. The mt. has seen some hurdles these past few years. While there are things that happen that are not in anyone's control. One thing that can & should be controlled is the way a Mt. is managed & operated. I've been going to Sunrise for over 30 years. And can honestly say that this current group of management is by far the worst. My friend owns a local shop & used to receive perks from Sunrise . Gone! night skiing Gone! Cyclone lift (not really anyone's fault ) Gone! And the courtesy n respect to the customer has gone by the wayside! They are often running the (high-speed) lift at 8 mph or under. When it is capable of running 11-12mph. Sorry to go on a rant!! But when i consider how much time n money people invest to come up. I feel people should know. Come on Sunrise we need to bring back night skiing. Not have more rails jams! Thank You!

We took 3 teenage boys to snowboard on January 4th. It was an extremely busy day at sunrise. It was warm & the snow was great. We bought our lift passes online, but We waited to rent our gear at Sunrise. It took about an hour to get our rentals squared away after waiting in line to get the lift passes (it said to go to customer services to get your passes, which is the regular line to purchase passes). We later learned we could have gotten our passes at the rental place & avoided one line. They were out of size large helmets before 10:00. It’s all first-come, first served.
Other than being busy, it was a pretty nice day. We were all new at skiing and snowboarding, so we spent a lot of time on the bunny hill. The main problem there was that people were sitting all over the bunny hill (some because they fell down & decided to stay put & others because they were taking selfies). It made it difficult to go down and not run into people.
The food was not great. We got pizza for $18. Sodas were $3 a bottle & $4 for water. I would recommend taking your own food & eating at your car (if you can park close enough to walk back & forth) or renting a locker and putting it inside for later. The lockers in the main building are $8 (small) or $12 (full size) for the day. You pay by credit card.

Tenemos muchos años viniendo a esquiar a este lugar los inviernos. Al ser de Sonora es el esquiadero más cercano que tenemos.
Cuentan con pistas para todos los niveles, desde principiantes hasta avanzados.
Traten de evitar las clases, que en realidad no sirven para nada y la renta de equipo háganlo en algún lugar especializado en PineTop ya que aquí es mucho más caro y tardado.
Las pistas me parecen bastante adecuadas y son suficientes para tener un día completo de diversión.
Los servicios de cafetería, bar y restaurantes dejan mucho que desear.
Si vas con la mentalidad de esquiar y divertirte la pasarás de lo mejor.

I’ve been visiting Sunrise Ski Park for 37 years and little has changed. Great snow and terrain but the service level is sometimes lacking. The tribal community staff are very friendly, but little things like unserviced bathrooms, pour water pressure, old and sometimes broken facilities, makes me always think of a longer trip up to Utah or Colorado (from Phoenix) where those types of expectations are usually met. Don’t get me wrong there are many positive things, great price, great food selection, and as I mentioned great snow, and at the end of the day it is always an awesome memory to ski in this beautiful ski park. (I actually prefer it over Snowbowl in Flagstaff). Our ski party was a mix of ages from 4 to 65, and all had a great time. The little ones did the ski school which gave the adults 4 hours of fun on their own.

Arrived just before 9 a.m on 1-2-20. Not too busy parked very close to the entrance. With our grandchildren. We have skid here several times since the 1970s. Surprise snow storm made for an awesome powder day. Those are the only good things to say. Went to the ski school, nobody there but we are told they are totally booked. Went to the rental shop across the way and waited 45 minutes to get the kids fitted. They took a few lessons in Co last year so we took them out on the mountain ourselves. After we get them fitted another 45 minute wait in line to buy our lift tickets. Not that busy but with 3 ticket Windows open the lines are not moving at all. Finally get everyone situated. Now it is almost 11:30. Should have just purchased 1/2 day lift tickets. Took 2 practice runs on the bunny Bill and then 2 short runs on the next lift over. Now the kids are hungry. Went to the lodge only to wait in line for over 1 1/2 hours just to get 2 hotdogs and 2 cheeseburgers wanted fries but was told it would be another 5 minutes. Plenty of employees working, not sure what the issue was. Worked at a very busy McDonalds in the late 70s and a staff of 5 could get 2 full greyhound buses full of people fed and back on the road within 20 minutes. Anyway we spent close to $400 for this fiasco. Colorado ski areas are much more hospitable and accommodating to families. So do yourself and your family a favor and drive a little farther north to Colorado.

Just got back from skiing three days here! Was hands down my best on hill experience yet. Went cat skiing all day on their double black terrain with multiple FEET of untouched powder! Couldn't say enough about Sunrise!

There was a place where rv's could park and hook up, but I don't think it had dumping and I wouldn't call it an actual rv park. I would look in Pinetop, Greer or Springerville.
Is the artificial snow smelly and brown ?

No...we've never experienced that. We've only heard of that happening at Snow Bowl in Flagstaff.

The parking lot is good sized and not paved so it's gravel, I believe there is parking for handicap tho. It might be a difficult outing for him since you have to go one place for your ski lift ticket, then go to the ski lift it's self. It's not flat.

The Sunrise Park Hotel is the closest but I do not recommend it because of low quality. Also we had to drive into Pinetop/Lakeside for dinner because their restaurant was not open on weekdays. There are many brand hotels within 30 minutes.
