This visit must be made in honor and memory of the great Mandela. The house is very small, these houses were called "Mandela houses" because, thanks to Mandela, they were given to those who could not afford a house. Mandela also lived, albeit very briefly in this house, where his wife remained. The story is long and exciting and it is good to let the local guides tell you, they will explain every corner of this small monument.

A slice of history but not really much to see here

This small house doesn’t take very long to walk around (even if you browse some of the memorabilia that is displayed inside). We had guide show us around both outside and inside. She was difficult to hear at times due to the conversations of other tourists and the incessant street performers right outside that were noisy distractions.

Exciting visit

Exciting visit to a historic place, full of memories of the Mandela family.
They offered us a guided tour in English included in the price, which helps to understand the context.
Price a bit excessive for what is usual in South Africa, especially for foreigners.

Disappointing .. just a money pot

I visited Vilakazi Street in Soweto and got a great tour by a local guide. I did not go into Mandela's House for two reasons (a) it is just a symbol, he only lived there for a few days after he was released, quickly moving to more comfortable surroundings and (b) the prices are discriminatory - one price for locals and African Union countries and triple that for 'international' visitors. Is that not discrimination? In any event, there is not much to see and the Mandela story is really at other places.

Small and interesting museum!

Although the house is small and you can see everything in 15 to 30 minutes, the goal is to know a little more about the life of one of the greatest personalities in contemporary history. When we were there, our visit was guided by a student (Vanessa) who volunteers for a school project. And she gave a show! Everything very well explained, calm and sympathetic. Gave 10 to 0 in a very trained Guide.
Regarding the museum, there are several original items, some replicas, bullet marks on the wall, decorations received, family photos, etc.
Informative and sensitive.

It is the absolute and must do in Johannesburg. It is Soweto. Entrance is 180 ZAR. But is a must see to pick a bit of history of the country. And taking photo outside is an obligation. Very beautiful and impressive.

Must See for a very interesting and enlightened view of Mandel's home

Very historical to visit the home of Nelson Mandela before he was imprisoned.
This museum is very nicely done with the original building and some artifacts from Nelson's earlier days. The staff is extremely informative and does a great job of laying out the various aspects of his home. This is a Must See location.

Amazing house with a lot of history. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Learnt a lot more about Mandela. I would highly recommend.

From humble beginning rose greatness

This was Mandela's home and now is a small museum. It has been renovated in parts and contains important clippings and items of historical significance. It is important to include a visit to the Apartheid museum either before or after visiting his home. You can still see the bullet holes on the outside bricks.
