We enjoyed a lovely tour and visit here. The proprietor is extremely knowledgeable about the history and characteristics of Alpacas. The alpacas, particularly their "spokesman" Ted are charming and curious and friendly, not to mention the supporting cast of dogs and the charming and clever pig Charlotte. This is a real working business, not a Disney and it was great to see how the alpacas are cared for, the details of harvesting their fur, and the details about what is so special about alpaca fiber in the first place. They also have a lovely little shop with various items made from alpaca - particularly socks, which are incredibly comfortable and kind to the feet.

A must-see stop in Kingman! Ron has such a wealth of knowledge and information on alpacas! It was fun to learn about the breeds of alpacas you also get to feed them and see their fun personalities. Also, Charlotte the pig was so cute doing her dance. When you leave you need to stop in the gift shop they have alot of merchandise you just want to buy. We bought one of their alpaca blankets its amazing and the socks are great too they don't hold odors.

Who would have guessed a spontaneous decision to stop for an alpaca tour would be the highlight of our vacation? We noticed the billboard on the way to Laughlin, and added it to our list of possible Sunday activities to kill time & get back to Phoenix after the Super Bowl/Phoenix Open traffic & madness. The barbed-wire fencing & guard-dog warning signs out front were a little intimidating; gives the impression you’re about to be greeted by Cujo. We were instead welcomed by a pair of delightful, extra-mushy Great Pyrenees who seemed to be just part of the gang of happy, well-cared-for animals getting ready for another meet ‘n greet. I’m sure there are some PETA-adjacent keyboard activists who will use this space to complain about horrible conditions like a pig having to sleep on the floor with only one blanket. Sane people will see right away that these animals are comfortable, healthy, and living their best lives.

Don’t let the $15 per car tour price fool you into expecting the usual on-stop profiteering and price-gouging that has unfortunately become the norm with every form of entertainment these days. Collecting the fee seemed to be the last thing on the minds of the incredibly welcoming, friendly proprietors. As our tour guide wistfully relates their retirement plans with an unmistakable air of self-satisfaction (stopping short of smugness), I detect a clear awareness of the fact that they followed through on a dream in a way so many wish they had. I find myself wondering how many others felt a similar kind of envy as I try not to dread the inevitable return to the hamster wheel waiting for me on Monday.

I piled those feelings on top of the rest of the repressed stress feeding a tumor somewhere and gave in to the snorting swine jockeying for my attention (food). Adorable in a “I want to pet you but there may not be enough antibacterial soap in the bathroom” sort of way, I’m captivated by the backstory of the inseparable Chewy & Charlotte. Our guide weaves a tale like something right out of West Side Story – the privileged princess and the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, while Charlotte dances for treats. The whole thing is interesting, endearing, and almost enough to make me swear off bacon forever...almost.

Despite getting close to kickoff time, our guide skipped nothing in his mission to educate us about the history and lifestyle of these wonderful animals. He took great care to make sure we captured a perfect array of photos commemorating our visit. Though as you might expect, the last stop of the tour was the gift shop and an opportunity to buy some tchotchkes or alpaca-based products. Again, this place demonstrates something so rare – high quality products they stand behind, minus the shameless price-gouging. Even if this is the primary profit-center of the operation, you don’t get the impression the whole experience is designed around pushing you into the store & separating you from your wallet.

I’ve never spent this much time and space on a review of anything, ever...but Alpaca Tours of the Southwest was that special. At a time when competent, honest customer service is about as common as a Blockbuster Video, and even the most well-known brands are more likely to pay lawyers to settle the suits if it’s cheaper than producing a safe product, it was just really nice to meet honest business operators who care about people (and animals) and take pride in their work.

This place is amazing for so many reasons! First, it's a great area. It's peacful and remote which I find to be ideal. Then, the amazing and giant guard dog comes to greet you. Then, the tour begins and you learn how uniqe Alpaca's are from the amazing tour guide, who owns the barn. Then, Charlotte, the most high maintenace pig you will ever meet, preforms her incredible trick! The best part is that they have an amazing gift shop with useful gifts! I bought some socks that I'm very excited to wear! I highly recommned visiting here!

Such a neat experience for our family of 4! My kids are teenagers and loved this. The guide was so nice, and loved meeting the Alpacas. The cost is very reasonable as well. This was one of our favorite parts of our trip.

A fun stop while in Kingman! Ron was a wealth of information on alpacas! It was fun to learn about the breeds of alpacas and get to feed them and see their fun personalities. Also, charlotte the pig was a hoot! Beware, they have awesome merchandise in their shop and you will want to buy something made from the cozy alpaca wool!

Due to a change in travel plans we had some extra time in Kingman, AZ. I consulted Trip Advisor for some suggestions and Alpacas of the Southwest came up. After a quick once over I decided we should check it out. We arrived without reservations but the owners were extraordinarily accommodating and made time for us.

First, I value their dedication to making this a safe site to visit with masks, sanitizer, and limited guests. Thank you.

Second, It is very apparent that the owners truly love their Alpacas and want to share their love with others. I appreciated the information regarding the species throughout the tour-this is much more than I expected. The Alpacas are very endearing and their personalities are very distinct.

Third, their shop is small but very well laid out and decently priced if you're looking to buy Alpaca goods. The carpets were very tempting but on a road trip I had space limitations. Next time though, I'll leave a little extra room!

We loved this little place. We wanted to do something different to break up our road trip from AZ back home to CA and this was just the thing. The animals are well taken care of, the short tour was informative, and we bought some great little items at the gift shop for Christmas gifts. Our $11 per car entry fee is good for life so we can’t wait to pass through again and visit Ted!

I was unsure of what to expect here and was delighted on visiting! You must stop here.

We were met at the front gate by the owner on clicking the call button and she directed us where to park.

Tour was about 1 hour and was given by the owner. She was incredibly knowledgable and answered all of my questions. She allowed for feeding opportunities and many photos!

I loved having a look into their family business and was happy to support them!

Also make sure to stop in the gift shop on leaving!! There are great deals on socks and they make great gifts, especially this time of year!
