Les gorges sont tout simplement splendides. On les traverses à flan de falaise. Une tempête avait pas mal dégradée la chaussée où par endroit il y avait des trous énormes et impressionnant ! Les ouvriers travaillaient sans relâche pour remettre la route en état

The Oribi gorge is within an easily accessible distance from areas along the Hibiscus coast such as Margate, Ramsgate, Uvongo, Port Shepstone and the other lovely villages which are dotted along the Hibiscus coast.
The Eland Game Reserve has activities which will appeal to both young and old. For the adventurous, the Zipline and the suspension bridge are amazing, and the view as can be expected, is simply spectacular. Some of the suspension bridge visitors are really loud, yelling across the end point to the start, to encourage the ‘fraidy cats’, to attempt the walk over the gorge. This does prevent one from immersing yourself quietly in the majestic surroundings but is a small price to pay for the overall experience. The wealth of wildlife in the game reserve is in itself, something that we enjoyed thoroughly.
Other attractions at the Lake Eland Game Reserve include a scooter tour and there is a surprisingly well priced restaurant on site.
The budget conscious traveller can pack a picnic. On route to the Eland Game Reserve there is a lovely picnic spot with tables and benches It is situated on the banks of the Mzimkulwana River. There is a braai spot and to boot, this spot offers a spectacular view of the Hoopoe waterfalls. Don’t forget the walking trails such as the Hoopoe Falls Trail, which winds along the riverbank. Really an excursion not to be missed! Don’t wear slops but opt for closed walking shoes or sturdy sneakers and definitely pack sunscreen.

It is a great reminder of how beautiful our beloved country, South Africa, is. There is a lot to do and to see in Oribi Gorge. Well done to all the venues in that area for giving us such a lot of wonderful memories.

Since there don't appear to be a lot of recent reviews on the campsite, with photos...here you go.
There are 5 campsites, all fairly close together, but in good condition overall.
Pros:
Powered sites
fairly level sites
Tarred road all the way
Clean ablutions, no bad smells
Cons:
No water taps near campsites (only at washing up area)
No hot water at wash up area
Pool not functional at all
Fireplaces needing servicing
No privacy from other campsites (all looking at each other)
This place would be great for a large group of friends if they rent out all five sites though. Additionally, there are 2-sleeper rest huts on the premises for rent, should some of the group prefer to sleep in a bed, with their own toilet and shower (shared kitchen for rest huts only)
Great as a staging spot to explore the surrounding area though, with Lake Eland, Oribi Gorge Swing, Port Shepstone Beach, Leopard Rock cafe all nearby, as well as a few hikes within the gorge.
We would definitely go again!

we spend 1 night in the Natal Parks accommodation which was great and then, of course, also visited the oribi gorge nature reserve and did two shorts hikes - which was well worth it. the trip is worth it!

Jump in your vehicle (4x4 not required) and take the drive to this beautiful nature reserve. A number of stops along the way, well indicated by road signs and the South Coast Travel App. Nature shows it’s amazingly beautiful views, crisp clean air and clouds hugging surroundings like a few other places in SA. Well done to the park, keeping the roads clean, drivable and maintained. Make a day trip and enjoy this part of KZN.

This was a great visit on our tour. This is a very green Grand Canyon. There is so much to see and due here and we did the lake trip latter. This is a must and a long visit to SA

An excellent day trip to see animals, zipline over the gorge, have a bite to eat at Leopard Rock Cafe, and experience the suspension bridge.

We visited Oribi Gorge a while ago and did white water rafting. Amazing experience. I was convinced I was going to die but here I am telling my tale, hehe. My husband,Andrew, brother and mom (!) did the rope jump. Thanks but no thanks. They loved it. Andrew even did it twice. We also visited the vulture hide which is managed by Andy Ruffle. Saw quite a few vultures in flight but at a distance. There's also a restaurant which served the tastiest food, yum. This was quite a while ago and I forgot to post so selected Feb 2019 as travel date but date needs to be corrected

When doing the "self-drive" what animals can ben seen? Is there Lions, Rhinos, Giraffs ect? and if not, is there anything nearby that has a safari?
Hi. I’m planning to stay in one of the huts at Oribi with the communal kitchen. Do I have to bring my own kitchen equipment ( pots etc) or is it provided?

Hello, I believe that the equipment is in the huts. I am not sure, because we stayed on the Oribi Gorge Guest Farm, where everything was provided. Have a great time.
