I recently went to the spa for a couples massage. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the parts of the hotel I saw looked good.
The massage was pretty good - again the staff were great, the room was comfortable and warm and I had a pretty good experience.
After the massage we were allowed to go to the private jacuzzi, steam room, sauna area and that is when things too a massive downwards spiral.
This room was dirty - the glass doors to the sauna had multiple face, arm, hand prints. The showers were a little mouldy and had pieces of paper? and finished soaps in them. The ceiling was starting to bubble and there was quite a lot of rust all around.
Additional issues included the fact that the sauna was only turned on when we entered the room - even though we told the staff we wanted to sauna, so it was cold and would have taken too long to heat up. A large amount of water leaked from the shower and made things very slippery. The Jacuzzi water isn't made fresh for each guest and while I recognise the expense of this it was a bit murky and smelled a bit like chlorine - because of skin allergies meant I couldn't go in. I could even understand many issues like damp etc but the area should at least be clean.
I wouldn't rate this room as 2 star let alone four star.
It is a bit sad because it ruined the wonderful massage experience we had just had. I would recommend that this area be upgraded urgently or closed.
