Beautiful gardens, clean, wines is great, awesome venue and just in general amazing. You pay once a year and can go to the property as many times as you like. All the fruit and veggies you can eat when they are ready. Have fun with your family and friends.

I have visited this place many times. It remains a favorite but this time I found that standards are not what they used to be. We were at room no 1 from the 6th -8th of September. When we arrived at the hotel the amenities were empty even when we told them they did not seem to care about it. There were no teabags and we also bnoticed the room was not properly cleaned. Very disappointed

Our first visit to Soetmelksvlei exceeded our best expectations. The staff is exceptional, the concept phenomenal and the quality superb. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!

Thought this might be rather corporate, but it’s totally amazing. Leave plenty of time (minimum 3 hours) to wander and enjoy the different garden areas. I particularly enjoyed the medicinal plants, but there is detailed and interesting information throughout. All staff were welcoming and enthusiastic. All the locally produced food looked astoundingly good, even if your budget only extends to a freshly roasted coffee or a buffalo milk ice cream.

Babylonstoren is a horticultural masterpiece that truly lives up to its reputation. Nestled amidst the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, this sprawling estate boasts an extraordinary diversity and scale of gardens.
Beyond their sheer scale, one of the most impressive features of Babylonstoren is the variety of both their gardens and their food production. From vibrant vegetable and fruit fields, to serene rose gardens and their unrivalled clivia collection, there's something to capture every lover of horticulture. The gardens are meticulously maintained, showcasing a stunning array of colors, textures, and fragrances.
The sense of maturity within the gardens is particularly noteworthy given that they are actually relatively young, having been designed by Patrice Taravella about 15 years ago. Many of the trees and shrubs have been carefully transplanted and nurtured over the years, creating a sense of tranquility and timelessness. The winding paths and hidden pathways invite exploration, revealing an extraordinary variety of planting and themes.
Away from the garden, the rooms are tastefully designed and nicely separated from the bustle of the day visitors (it can get busy). And don't forget the extraordinary breakfast harvest table, which is the best I have ever experienced and sourced almost exclusively from the estate. If you have an interest in gardening, this is somewhere you must visit.

Babylonstoren is paradise. Despite the winter cold, rain and wind, we managed to have one of the best stays in all our travels!
The staff is delightful and friendly. There such sincerity in the way that Whentzel, Warren and Korbus looked after us during our stay.
Wine tasting, olive oil and balsamic tour, water buffalo tour, bread baking class, a mountain drive, and spa treatments are the activities we had time for during our stay. Each experience was carefully curated, exceeded all expectations, and was included in our stay! Babylonstoren has a special touch and always left us with a surprise at the end of an experience.
The property is breathtaking, every inch of it. The night sky filled with so many stars, bikes outside your door, and high end finishes throughout. There are no corners cut!
The spa was exceptional!! The facility is notable, and the views are quite scenic.
The food was amazing and a product what they grow on the grounds. Please go, and stay for 2-3 days… at least. Babylonstoren is a must in your travel to South Africa, a charming oasis for sure.

Ok. Back up the bus! We only had s couple of hours here but are planning to come back for a fuller day visit. The gardens are diverse, charming and set out as different rooms. There are multiple restaurants, we ate outside at the green house, the food was wonderful. And really good value. There are lovely shops with interesting things to hut as well as seasonal produce and of course quality wine. Looking forward to coming back!

Fresh salads with ingredients some from Babylonstoren garden, excellent gnocchi, beautiful products. We eat in the botanical gardens. The place is exceptional and the meal very soothing. The place offers the products of the restaurant in the different shops of the site.

Can't say enough positive things about the food, wine, activities, rooms, grounds and countryside and especially the staff. They went out of their way to please us and make us welcome. Thank you Jonathan, Warren, Courtney and Brent. We had to leave early after our second night and Jonathan made sure we had a delicious breakfast packed and ready. Thank you all for excellence!

Walked through the beautiful gardens and saw many farm animals and different species of plants. Beautiful shops filled with cool items and foods (a bit expensive). The Green house, one of the restaurants, had very slow service. We almost never saw our waiter but the food was good, it was well priced for what you get.

Although we arrived with a group, we walked independently wherever we wanted. We met several workers along the way who are more than happy to answer questions and pointed out some great quiet spots to sit and enjoy the views
