Good portrayal of Eva Peron's life, including her childhood, her days as an actress, her marriage, her passion for social justice, and her untimely death. Captions are in both Spanish and English.

As typical in South America, the websites are not up-to-date. On the Evita website, the admission fee was 90 Argentine pesos. However, when we arrived, it was 315 pesos per person. Open from 11 am-7pm. It was a very interesting museum about Evita Peron, mostly, via a one-way walkway. We were not allowed to take photos in most areas, even without flash. I really don't understand why as some of the areas that photos weren't allowed were of her clothes or even of informative plaques. Security is ever present so a person doesn't take sniper photos. Would suggest to do the video first. Not much English signage.

On July 26, 2002, on the 50th anniversary of the death of Argentina's First Lady, Eva "Evita" Perón, her grandniece, Cristina Alvarez Rodriguez, opened the Evita Museum in Buenos Aires.

The museum building was originally a mansion built in 1923 that the Fundación Eva Perón bought in 1948 to use as a shelter for single women with children. She named the home "Hogar de Tránsito (Temporary Home)". In 1999, the building was declared a National Historical Monument.

Visitors pay $7, receive an audioguide, and are required to follow the one-way circuit through the rooms. The displays are primarily in chronological order, and following the set route keeps visitor traffic flowing through the small rooms and narrow doorways. It takes just over an hour to tour this museum, take pictures, read displays, and watch short video clips.

The museum's collection of videos, posters, photographs, signs, portraits, documents, displays, and memorabilia (including Eva's stylish wardrobe - dresses, shoes, purses, hats) help highlight Eva Peron's accomplishments during various stages of her life. Most information is written in both Spanish and English.

Eva Peron was a champion of the people and a social justice advocate. Her impoverished background fueled her drive to establish better conditions for the poor and working classes of Argentina. As First Lady of Argentina, Eva Peron took on unprecedented responsibilities with regards to Civil Rights issues and the establishment of accessible resources and necessary services for all, drastically changing the role of women in power despite the vehement disapproval of the Argentine aristocracy.

Evita founded the Peronista Feminist Party, and was a powerful voice in the Women's Suffrage Movement in Argentina, advocating for women's rights and place in politics. She saw her efforts come to fruition in 1951 when women won the right to vote. She worked closely with Perón and Congress to support women, children, seniors, workers, and the poor of Argentina.

She helped create equitable and accessible health care, a minimum wage, paid vacations, and pensions for workers. She established a contribution foundation and tax system that provided funds to build schools, hospitals, shelters, senior villages, children's sports programs, job training programs, nursing programs, immunization programs, and provide food, clothing, cooking utensils, and basic items to those in need.

A newsreel clip shows her famous speech to the Descamisados from the balcony of La Casa Rosada; in another, a line of three million grief-stricken mourners, waiting 15 hours to file past her glass casket in the Congreso in order to pay their respects to Santa Evita.

I recommend first visiting the Museo Evita to understand who this galvanizing historical figure was before visiting the Casa Rosada (only open on Saturdays by online appointment), the Congreso (drop by weekdays 12:30pm or 5pm), or the Recoleta Cemetery where she was eventually laid to rest in the Duarte family tomb. These sites mention Eva Peron only briefly, so having more knowledge of her background before you tour will help you appreciate her contributions when you visit those other important sites.

Hope that helps! Enjoy Buenos Aires.

Hayatını incelediğinizde kısa ömrüne sığdırdıklarını bu binada görebilme şansına sahip oluyorsunuz. Bana göre Peron hareketinin gerçek mimarı. Elbiseleri, projeleri, gündelik yaşamdaki kullandığı bazı malzemeler, ev eşyaları sergileniyor. İçinde birde hediyelik eşya satan dükkanı var. Bahçeşindeki cafe de oturarak kahve keyfi yapabilir , öğle yemeğinizi restoranında yiyebilirsiniz.

We purchased tickets on March 12th at 5 pm for the 13th. On the 12th at noon, Buenos Aires closed all museums due to the virus, but Trip Advisor continued selling tIckets. I immediately contacted TA regarding a refund, but have not heard back.

This place is incredibly detailed. I just want more. I took a group of students and did a guided tour with a lovely lady whose name I can't remember (she used to be a history teacher). She did a good job of presenting interesting information in an engaging manner, and she remained the most unbiased about peronism of any guide we had in the city. The tour lasted about an hour, but it flew by, so we were terribly surprised by how long we were in there. I would like to go back for an audio self-guided tour to pick up anything I missed along the way. I find Eva Perón to be a fascinating figure, so I would hungrily accept as many details as they could provide, and I wish there were more!
