Stunning Basilica, very pretty externally but beautiful internally with lots of marble and the tomb guarded. Everything is wonderful.

It is located in the Retiro area. It is one of the most luxurious churches in the city, chosen by the high society to celebrate marriages and baptisms. He sent her to build Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, her remains rest in the crypt of the temple. Inside we find beautiful stained glass windows, a beautiful altar with gold and silver applications stands out. Several marble sculptures, wood carvings, an imposing organ of almost five thousand tubes and a floor to admire. We visited her with my husband on other occasions, now we went on a weekday and could appreciate every detail in more detail, as there was almost no one.

If you like history, it is worth a visit. Very old church, dark, with murals, frescoes and stuff of this kind. Well preserved within possible, depending on the age of the church. As a taste of history, it was worth it. Even more pq I was able to visit the church and attend the Mass.

This basilica is a hidden Gem in the middle of the Corina Kavanagh side street between the Plaza Hotel and the Kavanagh Building Tower. It was once a private mausoleum built by Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, who lived across the nearby San Martin Plaza in a mansion now the Argentine Foreign Ministry.
The family were great supporters of the Roman Catholic church, and a basilica is an award given only by the Pope. It is one of the most richly ornamented churches in Buenos Aires, built in 1916, with Romanesque & Gothic elements and five towers. It was designed after the Cathedral in Angoulême, France; it has a French-made 5000 pipes organ and awesome stained-glass windows; there are 8 confessionals inside, all individually decorated with elaborate woodwork. The altar is magnificent. Also, the floor is covered with lots of unique coloured stones. It is dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament; the church belongs to the order of the Sacramentans founded by Saint Peter Julian Eymard and is now open to the public,
TIP: The crypt can be visited only on Friday from 9 to 3 p.m.

A beautiful basilica in a narrow street that outside can not imagine the grandness and beauty inside. It has a beautifully high architecture, with side altars and the main marble with golden trees on the main altar. Finally a beautiful place of peace and prayer.

We really loved this church, even more than the main cathedral on Plaza de Mayo - its color scheme and overall feel were much better for me. It is a little hard to find, tucked away on a side street and not really near other touristy attractions, but we were very glad we did. The hours were available on line and it's not always open (11-1 and 6-8 on the day we visited), but we were able to make a visit work and were really happy that we did.

The basilica is beautiful - you see the outside, discreet, sober, and you have no idea of the grandeur that awaits you. But, unfortunately, I went at the end of 2023 and it was VERY FULL of tourists, especially Brazilians. There wasn't much time to enjoy, appreciate the sacred art, the architecture of the church... just people coming and going, taking photos of every millimeter and doing tiktoker poses [even during mass]. I hope I have better luck next time.

A charming basilica, hidden on a street in the center of Buenos Aires. The details of the construction, the pastel colors, spare but majestic, draw attention.

Are any saints buried in basilica or crypt? Are there musical presentations in crypt?

You have to connect with the line to Plaza San Martin and then walk a few blocks. If you like walk you can go walking its about half an hour max. I dis it, its a nice walk.

Atentamente
