This is a lovely park but if you decide to hike to the hike it can be steep. You need a lot of water but will be rewarded with marvelous views. No dogs are allowed on trail.

This park offers a moderate hike to the "peak", which not the top, but as far as the peak ascends. From here, you can turn back or continue on the one way trail where the hiking becomes a little more challenging (switchbacks, more "rugged" terrain). Total trail is a two mile hike out and returning to start for a four mile round trip. "Peak" is not quite to the one mile mark from the start. Nice trail. Shade at the beginning for those who turn back sooner to wait. Ranger available with nature displays, too.

The hike was amazing. The trail was so well maintained. The views where incredible. We took lots of photos. It had a very good visitor centre. It is a very long hike. Come prepared with lots of water. I would recommend if you have younger children don't expect to go to the end. But my 2 children over 7 made it. Good luck.

Beautiful hike! It’s not very hard BUT you need to make sure you’re wearing appropriate footwear. I had slide-on sneakers that didn’t have a good grip and I slipped a few times on the gravel.

Amazing hike to enjoy a AZ sunset! 3.5 miles up and back. Pro tip: At least get to a summit as you could get caught in valley or exit trailhead and miss the sunset. Either way, it’s a beautiful hike. Moderate to Strenuous. Can’t miss!

We visited PPP four years ago, and spent three days there again this year while visiting over spring break. The park is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's such a peaceful place; we could have stayed the entire day!! We highly recommend Pinnacle Peak Park - it's beauty at its best.

Great hike for a novice in good shape, or just take it easy on your way up, either way the views are spectacular. Easy parking and bathrooms too.

Really enjoyed our hike. The temperature in October was perfect. Just the right level of difficulty to get some exercise but not just be exhausted. Several scenic views of the valley. Definitely not for people who have a hard time with stairs.

I am handicapped and use an electric scooter when travelling. Would the trail at Pinnacle Peak Park be accessible for me either partly or entirely? If not this Park, can anyone tell me easy trails that would accommodate me and my scooter? My husband and I will be in Scottsdale for 1 1/2 days during Memorial Day weekend.

I don't recommend this trail for a scooter or wheel chair. Too steep and rocky.

No dogs allowed except for service dogs assisting the visually impaired.
I plan to go hiking at McDowell Sonoran Preserve; will it be pretty much the same type of scenery/views at Pinnacle Peak? Just wondering if it is worth the time to visit both places with limited time.

It depends. If you like desert hikes, the two you describe are different enough to be enjoyable. But if you are the sort of person who might say, "seen one desert, seen them all" they are somewhat similar vistas. They are different levels of challenge too. The Go John trail and Tom Thumb are both significantly more different than the two you mention.
