You'll notice authentic good reviews of this place ended quite awhile ago. More recent good reviews are being rewarded with free membership so they can counter the negative sentiment they've (justly) earned.
As a long time AZ rock climber, I would absolutely recommend you climb somewhere else. It'll be significantly cheaper and more fun.
I was a member there for five years and ended my membership after they dramatically raised rates, significantly cut hours, and became generally unpleasant. It's not just me -- now that I'm climbing at Gecko and Phoenix Rock Gym again, heard from tons and tons of other climbers how terrible their experience has been.

This place rocks! The kids wanted to try something new and the environment is SO empowering! As first time climbers, they were taught to handle their own gear safely and effectively. The climbing gym itself felt to them like an open book of opportunity. The confidence and smiles were overwhelming. We spent over 3 hours on a completely new activity and all were happy.

Staff is great and focus on safety is great. Bummer for tweeners. Parents have to stand on the mats behind anyone under the age of 15. My 12 year old who has completed 18 triathlons and who has hit several other climbing places in the metro on our vacation I did think needed me standing over his shoulder on an auto belay ? Probably because climbing areas are so close together. Straightforward climbing venue. Nothing special or themed to different age groups. Wouldn’t come back again unless he was serious about climbing or 15.

I was on vacation with teens in Scottsdale, went to climb for a morning. Az on the Rocks had a family day pass at a reasonable price. Attendants where friendly, helpful and efficient. The provided all the equipment.The facility is geared for all levels of climbing. Many instructors to help everybody, at all levels. We had a great time.

I tried arranging for a birthday party for my son. I submitted an online submission through their website at the end of June and then followed up with a phone call the following day. They told me they were booked and would try to ask for more staff. Weeks went by and I didn’t hear back. I called several times. Left two messages and as of yesterday spoke to someone else. They took my name again and told me to email Stephanie. Still no response. They basically told me, that they will never respond to phone calls and only to emails. I’m disappointed in their customer service and lack of communication. I’m sure the gym is a great place to climb but they are not accommodating to group requests.

We had 2 teenagers, a 9 yr old, 6 yr old and 2 adults. The rainbow beginner was was enjoyable and a good place to earn your confidence and get good before you go for a bigger challenge. The work staff was lovely. Very engaging and will to help. I liked watching them balance in the tight rope. Gotta try to walk like on a trapeze. Very cool concept, place is a great idea. We enjoyed our family night out

This is my favorite climbing gym in Arizona. They're very accommodating to make it fun for everyone. The only downside being that it gets pretty crowded during public hours. If you're an avid climber, I would recommend a membership.

Went here with family. Ages 50-5 yrs old.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
After a few tries everyone mastered climbing. 5 yr old was the first to make it to the top.
Enjoyed by all even the spectators had fun
Great adventure for us from the flatlands of Kansas.
Will return. BTW. Everyone slept well and a little sore the next day!!

Staff was wonderful and helpful, atmosphere was nice, and there was a great bouldering section as well as climbers gym section that was a bonus! The only negative thing is that there were only a few auto-belay walls, and you could only do the other walls if you had someone with you that was certified to belay. So if you are experienced enough to belay and are with someone else, it's great here!

Loved the beautiful home we stayed in. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath. We ate at the home one night and used the outdoor built in grill and the home was furnished with everything we needed plus a full spice rack. The outdoor hot tub on the back patio was nice to get into on the cool evenings. The fitness center had top of the line equipment. The included breakfast was very nice. The pool was great with plenty of covered areas. The location was convenient to all areas of Scottsdale. I would highly recommend this property. It's very luxurious!

Yes, with a small group. If you are not a member, you are limited to their public hours and it does get busy in there during those times. I would call the facility for more information.
