Nice little park with lots of informative plaques and trails to walk. Flat paths and even elevated areas, a lovely pond, benches, and a visitors centre.

I went with a friend (we are both over 70) and enjoyed a beautiful day swimming and sunning. However people need to be aware that you must bring everything you need from your car when you first come in. We arrived 20 min. before it opened and there were about 25 people in front of us. We got in and asked as we paid if we can go back to get other things we couldn't carry all at once. They said yes, we just need a stamp.
About 30 min. later my friend went to go get our chairs as we only had towels to sit on.
By then the line up was about 100 people and we were told by the lady policing the exit, that if we went to our car, we would have to get in line again, even though the exit was wide open with no fear of getting too close to others. We stayed from 11-3 and all that time there was a line up so we never got our chairs or some food that was in the car.
This rule is totally ridiculous, especially for older people and mothers with very young children etc. etc. who simply cannot carry everything in one go.
I probably wouldn't go back because of this rule that no one told us about when we went in.

Great place to go, especially in the summer. The man made lake is reall beautiful. And the trails around the old quarry are fun to walk

Quarry Park is a pretty park in Stonewall with plenty to offer.
There is a great trail through the forest with nice views of the quarry along the way and is a good place to go for a walk or jog. A small lake is in the centre of the park which the pathway encircles as well.
There is a man-made beach called Kinsmen Lake which is a popular spot in the summer. There is also a campground.
An new and modern Interpretive Centre can also be found at the park with a banquet hall for events and weddings and a small museum.
Quarry Park is a great place to visit when in Stonewall.

I walk to Quarry Park daily for exercise for not only me but my dog. She loves the freedom of running around the pond and up and down the trails. Kinsman lake is a great attraction for Stonewall. It is always clean and with life guards on duty safe for every one. Truly a gem for our community.

We arrived at 11:00 am just after the gate opened. The cost was $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for students. The beach is groomed daily and is surrounded by some grass areas and trees for shade. We always bring our own umbrella and cooler with food and drinks. The water is cool but refreshing and has a sand bottom. The beach area is dusty so prepare to wash everything you bring when you get home. There are washrooms and a consession stand to purchase food if desired. You must have cash to purchase food. Interact is available only for admission into the swimming area. There is a volleyball net but you must bring a ball. There are no flotation devices allowed. There are lifeguards on site. Once you leave the swimming area there are other areas of the park to explore. Very nice place to take the kids.

Walking the grounds was very enjoyable, but thought the $7 per head for their museum was over priced for what is in it. Would go again for walking of the area but would not spend the money for the museum.

Quaint, safe and well maintained. A great place to walk the dog or enjoy a quiet walk for yourself. Various trails throughout, over the hills and around the pond. Also an off leash area for the dogs with well placed garbage cans for the Poop Bags which they also provide at various stations throughout. There's also a paved trail for roller blades, bikes, strollers, etc. We go 2-3 times a week.

On fait un arrêt à Stonewall. Le guide Lonely Palnet annonçait une belle petite ville et c’est bien vrai… On marche autour du Stonewall Quarry Park. Il y avait dans la ville une carrière de « limestone » (« pierre à chaux » communément appelé calcaire; ce qui peut être du carbonate de calcium, de magnésium ou de calcium/magnésium = dolomite, selon les informations fournies par mon père). La carrière ne pouvait plus étendre ses activités parce qu’elle était encerclée notamment par des autoroutes. Ils ont tenté de prendre de l’expansion en creusant plus profond mais la qualité de la « limestone » n’y était pas suffisante. La carrière a donc cessé ses activités à la fin des années 60. La ville a racheté les terrains et en a fait un beau parc dans la ville avec un musée d’interprétation. On y voit les fours qui servaient à transformer la « limestone » en poussière. Elle entrait dans la composition du ciment (« concrete »), si j’ai bien compris. Nous n’avons pas pu visiter le musée parce que nos portes-monnaies étaient restés dans le motorisé à l’autre bout du parc… Snif! Par contre, on a aussi pu acheter des légumes et des fraises directement du fermier… Ah oui, l’essence est vraiment pas chère : 87,9 cents/l. On profite aussi de notre arrêt à Stonewall pour faire de l’épicerie dans une « vraie épicerie », une qui ressemble à chez nous… et où on y retrouve nos habitudes…
