Really beautiful spot within a shortly boat trip from Helsinki or Porvoo. A strong feeling of what lighthouse working and living was like in the past centuries. Nice swimming in the clear, clean and crispy sea.

A trip to the Soderskar Majakka mostly shows the beautiful Helsinki and Porvoo archipelago, The boat ride takes about 2hours from Helsinki market square via Aurinkolahti in Vuosaari. The lighthouse itself is an interesting one: you can have a glimpse of the life of a lighthouse keeper inside the lighthouse. The view from the top of the lighthouse is great. There are couple of buildings in the island but there are no services on the island. The cable bridge between the island are somewhat wobbly but safe. A nice place to visit on a sunny warm day. The length of the visit in the island is about 1hour. There is a cafeteria onboard the vessel but you can also pack a lunch and enjoy it on the island.

A tour operator with a special permit only is allowed to transport tourists to the lighthouse a few specific months during summertime. Outside this time public access to the islet is limited.
The tour is operated by Pörtö lines and their boat is quite ascetic but the trip one-way takes only an hour in stunning Finnish archipelago. The boat departs from a couple of different ports. We used Kalkkiranta harbor in Sipoo. Another one would be Aurinkolahti bay in Helsinki.
One must remember to book the tickets in advance or else there might not be enough space left on the tour. Price is much higher than the Bengtskär lighthouse tour in Hanko at south-western tip of continental Finland.
The islet and the lighthouse itself are simple. There is no other attractions or services on the islet. Bring in your own snacks. Also toilet facilities are almost nonexistent, just a shed that has been brutally beaten by the harsh winds at the outer sea.
You can climb up the lighthouse and lookout for the surroundings. There is a smallish exhibition, a brief introduction of the lighthouse and its former keepers.
It was a good trip but the tour was unfortunately only 25% of the experience what we had in Bengtskär lighthouse tour. I wish the tour operator or local municipalities and authorities would improve and boost the tour opportunities a bit - without jeopardizing or compromising the nature conservation activities and restrictions, of course.

Söderskär meaning southern rock is located at sea 1-2 hour boat ride from Helsinki, either from Market Square or Vuosaari (east), where you might have a parking problem.
Lighthouse was built 1862 and operated until 1989. It is 32m tall. Location 60° 06′ 30″ N, 25° 24′ 48″ E. Until end of July, only half of the island is open and lighthouse due wild life sanctuary.
Summary: recommend, make a day trip from Helsinki by boat.

Söderskärin majakalla oli mukava käydä kiireettömänä ja kauniina kesäpäivänä. Matkalla oli paljon kaunista katseltavaa ja itse kohde oli todella vaikuttava. Omat eväät on hyvä ottaa mukaan. Laivasta saattaa voida ostaa jotain syötävää, mutta saarella ei ole kahvilaa.

Went there early in the spring to watch the birds move from the south to the tundra. It might be a bit windy there but if the weather is fine then this will be an truly different experience. The nature is down to the minimum in plants but plentiful when looking at the birds. Take a good binocular and camera with a long lens with you.

The beautiful old lighthouse is situated on a charming small island just one hour's relaxing boat trip from Vuosaari harbor. The view to the sea and the surrounding islands is magnificent from both the lighthouse and the shores of the island. The exhibition inside the lighthouse tells interesting stories about the life of the people who used to live on this island tending the lighthouse. The access to the island is limited and controlled in order to protect the abundant birdlife. Remember to respect the rules!

Upeasti kunnostettu majakka n. 1h vesibussimatkan päässä Vuosaaren Aurinkolahdesta. Vesibussimatka on sopivan pituinen, jotta matkalla ehtii rauhoittua ja nähdä itäisen Helsingin karun kaunista saaristoa. Majakkasaari on juuri niin rauhallinen kuin majakkasaaren tulee olla. Komeita silokallioita ja aavaa ulappaa.
Majakka itse on asianmukaisesti kunnostettu, ja sen huipulta avautuu parhaimmat näkymät.

トーベヤンソンが実際に訪れ、「ムーミンパパ海へいく」にでてくる島のモデルになった島です。
島へ行くには、www.soderskar.fiから申し込む必要があります。
ヘルシンキからメトロでvuosaariまで行き、徒歩１５分くらいの港から、船で１時間３０分くらいです。
景色ももちろん素晴らしいですが、灯台に上ることができ、灯台守のかわいいベッドルームを見ることもできます。
滞在時間は１時間程度ですが、島自体も小さいので、ゆったり楽しむことができます。

This is one of the Lighthouse islands where you can visit. And even spend a night in the actual Lighthouse. That has to be prebooked and arranged though. The ride there takes approximately 1 hour from Vuosaari harbour in Helsinki. We had an arranged boat with breakfast. But one can also go with your own boat. A must place once in your lifetime.
