We were limited in our choice of activity this day due to heavy rain. We ended up visiting this place. It was small and didn't take so much time, but it was interesting.

Calm, peaceful, interesting and welcoming sums up my visit to the art museum in Hveragerdi. The staff took time to explain the exhibits. There are activities to take part in. And a cafe. Recommended.

We stumbled upon this museum after seeing it listed on the town map. It was lovely, and admission was free. There were two exhibits--one by an established Icelandic artist and another a set of senior projects by architecture students. Both were excellent and suggest that the curators do great work.There is also comfortable seating with an activity area for kids and a little coffee bar inside. Do yourself a favor and stop by. It's delightful!

We stopped in here with our 10-year-old daughter and loved it. It’s small and easy to do but super cool and original. The day we went, there was an exhibit by artist Sigrún Harðardóttir whose art showcases the movement of art, which was so interesting. There’s a space for kids to do their own artwork and a cafe to grab a cup of coffee. So glad we came here!

The shows on display were top notch. The first included an Icelandic mixed media ( paint/film/interactive) artist inspired by geysers and Iceland. It was highly engaging, professionally executed, and thought provoking.
The other exhibit was by architecture students who designed proposals for an artist’s residency in town. Again, the work was of a high professional quality.
Do not skip this museum if you support arts.

We came there a group of 50 and had a guided tour around the museum. It was really interesting and fun to see :)

We were there during the ERRO exhibition which was spectacular. Vivid fascinating work. There was also an exhibit that was a fascinating oblique view of slavery. Very powerful. If you're in Reykjavik this is a great stop if you're museum-ing. We wanted to choose just one museum for day one, and this was an excellent choice. Beautiful space too.

Weather closed eastern roads so we had an extra day in Selfoss and were looking for something to do. We enjoyed the gallery very much. Impressed with the high quality artwork and knowledgeable staff.

LA Art Museum is owned by local muncipitalities in Arnesinga County approx. 40 minutes drive east of Reykjavík. Their exhibtions are quite ambitious - this summer they are presenting expressionism in Icelandic painting 1915-1945. A text in English is available. I went there today and enjoyed the visit as always - very professioal. There is a quiet coffee-house in the building. An excellent place to relax.
