What a fantastic place! A geyser, greenhouse, and delicious rye bread and eggs boiled in the hot springs! We saw it on Travel Man and it definitely didn’t disappoint!

Cooked eggs in a geothermal pool and watched an awesome geyser. The welcome and rye bread is excellent. A little bit of fun for an hour or so.

We really enjoyed our visit here. While the highlight was boiling an egg and having delicious hot spring bread, the rest of the park was also very interesting. It is a relatively small park with history. It raised my awareness to how the hot springs can come and go with time and earthquakes. The park has done an excellent job at engaging visitors with the egg, bread and foot bathing pools. It was definitely worth the modest price they charge. Their small greenhouse is also very interesting.

Really enjoyed this place. Boiled an egg in the geothermal spring. Lovely slice of lava bread. Enjoyed watching the geysir.

This was a real highlight of my trip to Iceland. I rarely write reviews unless somewhere makes a true impression.
We were greeted by a lovely American lady (so sorry we didn’t get your name!), who explained the history and geology of the place. We all boiled the eggs in the thermal pool and watched the geyser go off several times.
We had our eggs with the most delicious Rye bread and some locally made hot sauce (v spicy but delicious).
Definitely take a stop here if you can.

This was a lovely place to visit. The lava bread was delicious and if you are in the area it is worth popping in for this alone. The egg experience was very unique and very cool to do. Although the park has some thermal pools which were empty, the warm welcome, geyser and egg cooking more than made up for the impact of the earthquake draining a couple of the pools.

We visited as part of a larger tour and enjoyed seeing the geyser that erupted every 20 minutes like clockwork, the geothermal pools of varying sizes of past and present (many of them are now empty), and being treated to boiled eggs and hverabraud cooked using geothermal power. A nice visit.

Lovely place, definitely not crowded like Geysir. there is a main spring that erupts randomly every once in a while but quite often. Boiling the egg was very fun and the geothermal bread was super! There is also a little exotic greenhouse that you should not skip. a great experience overall!

If I could give this less than one star I would. Absolute waste of time and money. Perhaps at some point this place was good but presently it is poorly maintained, weeds everywhere, very sloppy, and overall from start to finish it offers a very mediocre experience. The goofy shtick about boiling an egg and having a piece of geothermal-baked rye bread feels like a simple money grab and is absolutely not worth a penny. Visiting this place was literally the worst experience we had in Iceland. 99% of Iceland travel experiences are magnificent and fabulous—but this "Geothermal Park" in Hvergerdi is beyond lame. Don't waste your time and money here!

We apologize if the maintenance and appearance of the park were not up to your standard. The park reflects the natural beauty that Iceland is known for. Some areas of Iceland are lush, others are more desolate - like all countries around the world.
Regarding the geothermal egg-boiling and rye bread experience, we understand it might not resonate with everyone. However, this tradition is something we are incredibly proud of, as it represents a unique aspect of Icelandic heritage. Geothermally baked rye bread, or "hverabrauð," has been a part of Icelandic culture for centuries. It’s a symbol of how Icelanders have ingeniously used the land’s natural geothermal energy to sustain themselves in this unique environment. By sharing this experience with visitors, we hope to connect them to Iceland’s history and traditions in a meaningful way. In fact, Hveragerði was originally established because locals discovered this geothermal area, which allowed them to heat their homes, bake bread, wash clothes, and cook their food.
We hope that the rest of your Icelandic adventure was as magnificent as you described.

The three most interesting thermal pools are empty since 2008, so we saw some dirty pits.
Sure there are some smaller ones and there are some services you can use (boiling egg, baking bread) but still i was expecting more

We understand your disappointment regarding the empty thermal pools. While these particular pools have been inactive for some time due to natural changes in geothermal activity (which is common in geothermally active areas throughout Iceland and the world), we continue to offer other features that highlight the unique geothermal landscape of Hveragerði. The smaller pools, along with the geyser, egg-boiling and bread-baking activities, are meant to provide a glimpse into the traditional ways Icelanders have utilized geothermal energy for centuries.
