Very small interesting place. The earthquake exhibition centre is from an eruption in 2008 where you can straddle America and Europe. No fee to go in and read the exhibits and watch the video. There is a small craft shop, a bakery/bar and supermarket. There is a small fee to go inside the "quake house" There are free to use toilets here too. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

If you are in the area its certainly worth a visit. We certainly had fun in the earthquake shed, and just outside of it, one of you can stand in europe and the other in america!

We were staying nearby and stumbled into this. Nice wee exhibit on the 2008 earthquake and you can look down into a gap between the European and North American plates. Very impressive.
Then for a reasonable fee there’s a simulator of a 6.4 level earthquake similar to the one from 08. Felt very realistic.
Well worth stopping off at.
Beside it is a brilliant bakery too!

When our guide stopped here we had no idea why. They we went inside the strip mall/truck stop and there was the North Atlantic Rift. Very cool. It was fun to straddle the continents of North America and Europe.

Dans le supermarché, il y en a fait une salle qui présente des expositions sur l'impact des éruptions volcaniques et notamment l'éruption volcanique de 2008. C’est super intéressant c'est composé d'une dizaine d'affiches qui relatent les récits d'individus touchée par le phénomène. On a les pompiers les mères de famille les personnes âgées ainsi de suite. Certains sont des témoignages très émouvants comme celui du papa qui a cru perdre sa fille âgée tout juste de 6 mois !

There can't be many service stations which have the North Atlantic Rift running underneath! As well as the usual restrooms, coffee bar, shop etc, there is a free exhibition with displays on the 2008 earthquake that measured 6.5 on the Richter Scale and hit the Hveragerdi area. There's an earthquake simulator which requires a fee.

Our kids loved having their feet in North America and Europe! There is good info on the quake. Not a MUST SEE but worth the stop! The pizza place close by is good too!

It truly amazing to go inside the small house and feel the type and speed of the earthquake. Went with kids, they also think it's fun 👌

This store was walking distant from our hotel. There were gift shops, food, wine and everyday items here. There was a small museum inside that showed a huge crack in the floor covered with a see -through glass. This exibit showed what the earthquake left behind and how if caused damage to the building. Very interesting to see.

We stopped here for a short break while coming home from the Golden Circle tour. Inside there is a small exhibition with AV taken on the day the quake hit the town. Amazingly no one was hurt even though the videos showed a lot of shaking and damage within the supermarket, and afterwards they found that the ground had split under the shops but the walls were undamaged.
They now have a permanent exhibition where you can walk above the gap left as the ground split and peer down into the rift.

I can only confirm the above advice by Michael K. It sounds right. We visited in February.
