Really surprised that it's not being looked after.
Situated next to a shopping centre and over grown not worth looking for.
Could be a nice little attraction not but just been left to go to waste.
Was disappointed.

I haven't been to Maynooth in quite a while but I remembered this wheel from that visit and ambled back for another look.
It is built at the back of the Manor Mill Shoping Centre to commemorate the fact that a real mill once stood here.
I wouldn't go out of my way to see it or anything but it makes for a quirky photo stop.
There's an interesting display board beside it giving a run down on the history of the old mill.
It's on a terrace out the back door of the shopping mall by the stream facing the picturesque ruin of Maynooth Castle.

When I look at the Mill Wheel I think back to my childhood. My Dad was known as the “grist miller” that wheel turned the grinding wheels in the Mill. In the “old” days Kavanagh Mill ground the special wheat meal for Bewleys Cafe. A friend and former worker made the most fantastic video of the “moving” of the wheel.... no hard hats or boots, just ordinary shoes and clothes..... the Local History Group have a copy and it’s wonderful (even though it’s not that clear in places.

The wheel its self is nothing special and not worth making a trip out to see it alone. That being said the wheel is situated behind a small mall where you can grab a warm cup of coffee or lunch. Its also a stones throw away from Maynooth Castle and other local historical sites, so if you are taking a stroll through Maynooth you may add it to your list. Please note that the coffee shops and general shops close early on the weekend.

Centro commerciale non grande, ma con diversi negozi. Il Costa coffee è ampio e con tappezzeria nuova. Dunnestore è molto grande e pieno di prodotti...dall'abbigliamento al cibo.

you can kill 2 birds with one stone by sight seeing and shopping with a sneaky cuppa on the side with few cloths shops and bagel bar inside and o'brien's with fantastic deals on hot and cold sandwiches

The Manor Mill Wheel is very impressive, mounted as it is on a frame on a stream outside the back of a shopping centre.
If you're in the area then stroll around and have a look but I wouldn't travel any distance see what is essentially a decorative, ornamental monument.
There is a good display board next to it giving lots of information about Maynooth, the Mill history and the general history of settlement in the area.

This is not really an attraction at all. It is simply an old mill wheel at the back of a non-descript shopping centre. Even if you were an avid student of Mill technologies- I doubt that this would be worth a detour from the other interesting sights in Maynooth. It does however give you something to look at if you are drinking a coffee in the nearby coffee shops. Don't bother!

If you reach out and touch it without falling in, a genie appears and grants you three wishes. You are not allowed to wish for anything wheel related which really sucks so I guess as far as genies go, this one is pretty lame. The wheel itself doesn't even turn like.

Questa dovrebbe essere la ruota originale di un mulino, si trova attualmente esposta dietro il Centro Commerciale Manor Mills. La ruota è sollevata dall'acqua e non gira (credo sia anche stata bloccata per conservarla meglio), è carina per darci un'occhiata di passaggio, magari scattarle una foto, può essere bello osservarla dal caffè del centro commerciale mentre si siede all'esterno...e nient'altro...
