Hired bikes from Amarantrilhos Bikeshop in Amarante which were ideal. Route has very gentle slopes which you barely notice until you turn around and get up some speed on the downhills. Great views, good condition path and the added bonus that some of the former stations have picnic benches and toilets still available. Highly recommend a few hours on this trail!

Certamente uma das melhores ecopistas que já percorremos
Sempre sinalizada, bom piso no geral, kms do percurso razoável, nem muito longo, nem muito pequena e, principalmente, foi uma beleza as antigas estações de comboio recuperadas, lindíssimas

Loved this route through the Portuguese countryside, punctuated by abandoned train stations to stop at. It’s not too taxing cycling, and there are places to stop along the way for a beer.

Uma agradável surpresa. A ecopista está bem tratada, chega-se lá facilmente, estacionei o carro com facilidade, enfim correu tudo bem. Só não leva cinco estrelas porque as paisagens não eram nada de especial. Mas proporciona um contacto agradável com a natureza. Vale a pena fazer o trajecto até Amarante e aproveitar para almoçar na cidade.

Pick a nice day and spend the morning (or afternoon) cycling along the path - you will not be disappointed.
The path is actually quite long and I agree that the first 3ks or so are nothing special but once you get through the tunnel it is beautiful. I would therefore recommend hiring bikes and making sure you 'stick with it'. The station of Gatao is particularly beautiful.

40 Km de eco pista ao longo do Tâmega e que vai de Amarante até depois de Mondim de Bastos. Antiga linha de comboio. Piso muito bom e com um nível de dificuldade não muito elevado. Muito boa conservação de túneis, pontes . Vistas espetaculares

We walked through this ecopista. The views are average, as it was spring, we saw and smelled lots of nice flowers.

Zeer de moeite waard om de ecopista af te fietsen. Prachtige uitzichten die het waard zijn om even af te stappen en te genieten van het uitzicht. ecopista is grotendeels verhard en redelijk vlak.

Visto que a linha do tamega estava desactivada, o reaproveitamento deste trilho parece me uma excelente opçao. Reduzindo os custos e dando vida.
Excelente forma de praticar desporto ao ar livre. Com cerca de 10 km de extensao.

We are staying in Amarante and wondered if it is possible to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel and taken on a river cruise or wine tour this weekend?

We rented bikes from amarantrilhos, we organised to be dropped of in Celerico about 22 km from Amarante. From their on it’s downhill to get back, so easy going for those people who prefer a leisurely drive. The scenery is amazing, driving through nature, mixed with wine yards, small villages, abandoned railway stations. The bikes where excellent, new and well maintained. Miquel Silva the owner very friendly guy gave us a lot of information
