I stopped by on the way to the European Observation Balcony. There's a flood of people outside the walls, although there weren't many in February, but there's silence inside. No one. Be sure to stop by for five minutes - the church is small. Of course, the painting to the left of the entrance attracts the most attention. And then to the sea, the sun that delights in winter.

Lovely historic church visit would have been improved by explanatory leaflet of some kind. I’m not sure what style you would call it, probably over the top baroque? The nativity scene is lovely.

WOW is the first thing you say when walking into the Church. Each of the chapels that surround the main nave are amazing in their own unique ways. The amount of effort and artistic skills that have been applied to each is breathtaking. Each has a message to portray. The crypt is so worth visiting too, telling the story of how the Church came to be as it is today. Then there is a very pleasant garden to sit down in and relax after an overwhelming experience of true Spanish Catholicism. Worth a visit if Spiritual or not.

Nice church, located in the center of Nerja in the Balcon de Europa, free entry, you must be quiet or you will get "shushed " at.

This wonderful and historic building is right in the centre of town and is a focal point for any walk around the centre. The bell tower dates back centuries and it is absolutely beautiful.
The church itself is well maintained and wonderfully clean on the outside. It was over Main plaza in town and is imposing and impressive. We've been in from time to time and it is just as lovely inside. Very handy for the balcony as well.

Simple church inside and out. Located in the center of the town, it is usually frequented by tourists and also usually has its doors open. Free entry.

Kurkan is located right in the tourist center, i.e. the square by the Balcon de Europa in Nerja. It's not the biggest and fanciest church in the world, but it's beautiful and absolutely worth going in and looking for a while and feeling the peace.

Behind the simple whitewashed façade are some very beautiful sculptures and other pieces of religious art.
Take time to study the side chapels, with their ornate altars.

Near the balcon you will find this wonderful church. Absolutely beautiful provide some wonderful photo opportunities.
If you are lucky enough to go inside it is equally beautiful and has a very special feel to it.
The fact that it is in the very heart of the town just adds to the colour of this beautiful building that is extremely well maintained and is a jewel in the crown for the town.

Tuesday 10th May we were sightseeing in resort Town of Nerja. This beautiful 17th century Church was one of the attractions that we visited. It is located in a plaza alongside the iconic Balcón de Europa.
The most obvious external feature is the tall four sided bell tower, with it's four bells, one on each side. It appears to be a four tiered structure topped with wavy tiles with a metal cross at the top.
Above the arched front doorway there is a plaque, made up with a number of tiles with a colourful religious scene. Over that the is a circular stained glass windows with another religious image
The original Church was built on this site in 1505. This one was built in 1697 and extended between 1776 and 1792.
Inside the central aisle, flanked on either side by a smaller aisle, leads up to the main altar.
This altar is definitely a rather grand affair, to it's front there is a very ornate golden coloured altar table with it's carved reliefs. Behind the table is a large sculpted and carved recess with a golden tabernacle at it's centre with a large curifix hanging above it.
One of the side altars almost eclipses the main one, with it's shiny wood, golden reliefs and inlays, carved wooden pillars, embellished with cherubs, supporting ornate canopies. This houses a number of statues of Saints.
The church is packed with numerous statues of Saints, everywhere you look there is something to see. There are a number of impressive frescos that adorn the walls.
This is a beautiful old Church that has a serene and calming feel that can almost be felt when entering the building.

Evening Mass Daily Mass at 20.30 with ROSARY at 20:00, except Thursday, with HOLY HOUR from 17.00 to 19.00, including rosary and Eucharistic Service.

Our daughter was married here a few years back. They had to co-ordinate with their local priest, who told them how to go about it, and we wrote to the priest in Nerja. We arranged with the Balcón de Europa hotel, who did a terrific job for the reception - two waiters for our party of 25 guests, and exclusive use of the restaurant at beach level, so room for kids to run around. We were astounded how reasonable the costs were, but of course that could have changed by now.

Is there an English language mass said on a regular basis at the Church of El Salvador. We spent 2 weeks in Nerja a few years ago and would like to return for a longer stay.

The 10.30 mass on Sunday is partly in English and partly in Spanish . The words to the hymns in Spanish are displayed on the monitors . There is s good choir, musical accompaniment and the tunes are very catchy . It is a very welcoming service and multinational . I am not sure about other English masses although there is an episcopal service all in English in the other Catholic Church on a Sunday morning too .

I am not sure but the details for the priest would be on the church website I would think . You would also have to contact the office near the tourist information as you have to have everything registered but I expect you will already know this. What a lovely setting for a wedding . Good luck with your plans and wishing you a happy future .
