What a lovely peaceful place. Great for plant lovers, photographers and artists. Spent a lovely couple of hours meandering over the bridges and even spotted a kingfisher from the hide. Tea room offers a small selection of snacks and drinks and seems like a step back in time, in a good way.

If you are in the area, this is a pleasant place to stop. We enjoyed the informal nature of the gardens and the lovely clear water. Tea and scones really hit the spot from the on site cafe. Overall, not crowded and very serene. A great low key experience.

Met up with a friend on a Monday, thinking that it would be much quieter than a weekend. However, 45 minutes after arriving, a large and VERY noisy sit-on lawnmower started up and completely shattered the peace that was advertised, as well as frightening my friend's dog. I know that grass has to be mown when weather allows, but when the whole point of visiting is to walk around and enjoy the tranquillity and relax, they should do this when not open to the public or at the very least offer a discount or a free cup of tea upon arrival. Found their attitude when we complained a little off-putting too, so won't go back.

Whilst the Gardens were very nice. Had an unpleasant experience in the cafe. I was overcharged and the person who served me didn't apologise and accused me of being petty over £5 .

This is a gem of a place to visit. Wonderful, peaceful gardens with interesting features and waterways. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely café and a great plant sale.

I visited Gooderstone Water Gardens for a couple of hours on Friday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very pleasant and peaceful and the gardens are beautiful.
The man on the admission desk was very friendly and helpful.
I didn’t use the tearoom, but there is a tearoom serving food and drink.
Would definitely return!

Such a beautiful place to gently wonder around or to sit in near peace listening to the songs of birds, the sound of water running or simply the sound of the wind through the grasses and trees. Plenty of birds and landscape photograph opportunities too.
Very well presented and maintained.
We enjoyed a drink in the on-site cafe which has an array of art available from local artists and some rather nice pop up craft stalls also selling some unique items.

What a wonderfully peaceful and relaxed place to spend a few hours simply wandering around the lakes and river side, sitting in the bird hide or on one of the many benches simply listening to many birds, watching the wild life or even better just chilling!

One of the most peaceful and tranquil places to while away the time. This picturesque area is beautiful, full of small pools and canal with well established waterside vegetation. There are many mature and wonderful trees. Butterflies and Dragonflies abound the area, you could sit and watch the many species all day.

I say it's a magical Garden for grown ups, but suitable for children, and bring your dogs too. Every path we took, every corner we turned, every bridge we crossed brought us to something new, beautiful and exciting to see. My favourite was the sun shelter with pumpkins/squash growing over it. If I lived closer I would buy a season ticket as I can see how beautiful it will be any time of the year. Someone has great vision when he started this, and at the age of 78!

Would the gardens be a good destination for our Art Group to visit to paint and enjoy tea and cake? There would be about 12 of us. It would probably be on a Thursday. Would there be a special rate for a group of pensioners? Thanks. Chris

I would absolutely recommend this place as an art group destination. The gardens lend themselves to quiet contemplative work for drawing and painting plants and landscape. There are lovely ponds with bridges. The tea room is a good size and could easily accommodate a group.

It would be best to check with the Gardens first. Speak to Jane who runs the cafe and bakes the delicious cakes she serves. We would say it's a great place to paint. The colours, shapes and atmosphere are quite inspiring. (We're artists and photographers ourselves so appreciate the potential of the Gardens.) They're definitely used to groups of people visiting and, we would imagine, happy for them to paint.
