Very enjoyable evening at Fairport Convention Concert. Ample parking, good bar for refreshments, fantastic acoustics, comfortable seating.

We came to a gig as part of the Cambridge Jazz Festival and realised quite quickly that it was some distance from Cambridge itself. However, the surprise was the quality of the venue: a short walk into/from the town centre, access & parking was plentiful, and the atmosphere & acoustics were splendid. It suited the music well.
I can't wait for my next opportunity to attend a concert there!

Just visited Saffron Hall to hear Courtney Pine, who was excellent. The Venue is on the edge of Saffron Walden, with easy access by road. It is also near to Audley End Station from where on occasions (see programme details they run a bus. The sound is better than I have heard in more well known halls. It is modern, very comfortable seats and good visibility. The bar area is attractive and there is the usual facilities. The car park to the rear seems to have plenty of space.

Excellent venue. Modern, bright, friendly. Plenty of parking. Well organised. Helpful knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended.

We go to this venue whenever we can. The last concert we saw was 'The Sixteen'. It was magnificent. Book early to avoid disappointment.

attended the Hot Sardines concert last night --an absolute WOW.
The venue was at capacity which enabled the volunteer staff to show just how good they are. The car park traffic management was exemplary , the front of house friendly welcoming and very helpful. The bar had plenty of staff who all worked hard to cope with the continuous demand and did it all with a smile.
The facilities here are excellent : ample parking; three entrances into the venue from the car park saving those steps; spotless spacious toilets; comfortable seats with tiered seating ensuring great views of the stage ;a very pleasant room temperature and excellent acoustics.
We had a perfect Pimms ( why do so many venues get this simple drink so wrong) and a half draught bitter . The cost £8 --the quality made it value for money.
There was even a bus laid on to run between the railway station and the venue

I recently sang at Saffron Hall. The facilities for performers were very good albeit feeling that you were back at school. The changing rooms were like classrooms. Good toilets. Small bar with a good selection of drinks and snacks. Coffee £3. Lots of people about to help and easily spotted in their black t shirts. I would imagine they are volunteers. Lots of free parking.
The only downside (for me) was the amount of security meant once out of the performers area you could only get back in using a code on a key pad and that was outside. As it was raining at that time, it was a bit of a pain. But these days such security is needed.
All in all a good place, great acoustics, lots of variety in performers Pity it’s not more central, say in Chelmsford.

Our first visit to this venue and I was very impressed with the facilities. We were sat right at the back but the sound was just great and the view too. Already booked to go again.

Our first visit to Saffron Hall. Very excited to try such a lovely facility on the doorstep and had very high hopes to make this a regular outing. We took seats at the back out of choice, preferring to listen to music away from the front. Sadly, we were bitterly disappointed. The orchestra and performers were excellent but the acoustics were dreadful and the sound reached us very flat, dead and almost monotone. It just didn't seem to reach us and as such completely lost the atmosphere. We left unsure we would return, but I would like to try another concert perhaps in the circle rather than the balcony to see if sound amplification was better. So disappointed as it promised to be such a good evening. Facilities were excellent and staff very friendly and helpful, but of course the sound is what you go for.

I've previously attended two very different classical performances at this venue and was suitably impressed with the atmosphere and exceptional acoustics. Recently, I attended an excellent talk by the remarkable Val McDermid, who, apart from being a very talented crime-writer and eminently intelligent University Challenge alumnus, comes across as a genuine, unaffected good egg.
Val was so down-to earth and thoroughly entertaining - if only all celebrities could be that way. Most importantly for the venue, the acoustics for the spoken word proved equally excellent.
The only minor criticism was that the front row seats in the orchestra pit, whilst comfortable enough, had a tendency to rock at the slightest movement from anyone on the row.

We like the balcony seats. some swivel. good leg room comfortable. The safety rail could obscure the view slightly. Never a problem for us.
