Beautiful town with a good range of shops and cafes. Well worth a look around.
We've been visiting for some years and seen many changes to the town, not all for the good though. The public toilets were attended and for a mere 20p to use were pristine and well kept. Now unfortunately the toilets are unattended and quite frankly a disgrace!

Newton Stewart is a small town in south west Scotland. It has a nice high street to shop in or have a bite to eat. There is a river running along side that is nice to sit and watch. Busy little place worth a visit

There was 5 of us ranging in age from 15 to 55 one of us in a wheelchair and we had a great time. The walk for the furbabies was great they loved going in and out the water. We had a great time everyone else around looked as if they was having as good a time as we was. We are going back this month and can’t wait to spend another day there. Really is great for everyone

We stopped off in Newton Stewart but found it rather 'down at heel' & tired. Little in the way of quality in both shops & cafes.

We visited this lovely town whilst on holiday a few miles away. Very friendly place ( free parking near the super markets) there's an Aldi and a Sainsbury's side by side. Good visitor centre. Great cafes ( brew ha ha is a must) the river Cree is a fast wide river which is a spectacular site to behold. Over the bridge and left is an RSPB spot where a walk through the wood of Cree leads you to spectacular waterfalls and a wild life trail where there are lots of birds to spot. Great place friendly people. Would definitely visit in future.

A great service for both tourists and locals, yet the powers that be decided to close it and move information to the WRDC at 6 - 8 Queens Street. Pity there is no signage to let people know. If you visit the WRDC there is lots of information about the local area. Alternatively, try the Belted Galloway or any other local business - where someone will be happy to answer your question. The region is packed full of hidden treasures to see, do and enjoy.

Newton Stewart Town Centre has become............how do I say it.........a bit drab since our last visit 16 years ago. Several shops have gone and it looks somewhat lacklustre and grey - even depressing. Just dont stay in the Town, stay just outside and go into town for shopping (Sainsburys and Aldi are good). Places to stay are The Conifers, Netherbar Steading (beautiful views and accommodation). But if you are looking for stunning scenery, coast and countryside the surrounding area has it all to offer in the Galloway Park and Solway Coast. You just have to be prepared to get out and about. There is lots to do and see, but youve got to get out there and do it. We visited many times over many years and never tire of the Galloway Park and coast. Getting there is a bit boring and sometimes dangerous driving along the A75, especially if you meet some of the local lads who have to drive at stupid speeds and carve up the tourists. You can meet some of these Boy Racers in the local cemetery (yes you really can, they are buried there). Remember that Scotland has different school holidays to the UK, so check before going if you want peace and quiet and no children hampering your holiday solitude.

If you like walking and cycling it's a nice place, but other than that it's like a ghost town. Nothing really in the place, just a few cafes really. Not even any shops to look around.
