Views, Photos, Trains, All nice on the bridge just try to ignore the rubbish near the start, Works were ongoing on the bridge but they are no problem, only other thing to be careful of is Motorbikes riding on the footpath and some of the cyclists race along the footpath but most are careful

Share a railway bridge

You can walk across the harbour on the railway bridge, great views across the estuary. Although the train track is right next to you, the trains are infrequent and quite slow.

Seeing is Believing

Saw a picture in a travel book and always wanted to visit. Finally, did it as a stopover on the way to Portmeirion. A lovely walk with beautiful views of the estuary and mountains that didn't disappoint.

My and I walked over the bridge a couple of weeks ago, not for the first time, . The views are amazing. One problem we encountered was cyclists not giving way, one even caught my arem.

Great bridge, great views

Enjoyable walk across the bridge, admiring the estuary as well as the bridge, we put some money in the honesty box towards the up keep.
Funny watching the sheep paddling as the tide comes in.

Walked the bridge, lunch in Fairbourne, couple of beers, ferry back. Happy days.

Have been to Barmouth on hols with the kids a few times over the years as I consider Barmouth Beach one of the best for children, especially when the tide goes out. But this was the first time to visit without small ones in tow so we were able to do the walking activity we always promised ourselves.
Blessed with an absolutely gorgeous blue sky day we parked in town and headed for the bridge. Easy enough to get to the start of it and to the troll in the honesty toll booth. I was happy enough to pay my £1 into the collection slot and then head over.
There is something magical being able to walk over the sea and this bridge allows you to do that and I hope Barmouth council can utilise my £1 towards keeping it maintained for man years to come. It’s a pleasant stroll over the bridge, sharing it with other walkers and cyclists, and if you’re lucky the two carriage train in and out of Barmouth station.
Once on the other side the signposted path takes you through the flood pain past all the grazing sheep and around the golf course to Fairbourne. The golf course club house is open to the public and is a nice spot but we pushed on to Penrhyn Bar & Grill as they sell Purple Moose beers. Then along the seafront following the narrow gauge railway line all the way back to the ferry boat back over to Barmouth, which Is well worth £2.50 of anyones money.

Excellent historic bridge

I recall walking across this when I was about 11 years old and being impressed then, I still am. A 150 year old wooden railway bridge across the estuary of the River Maddwch half a mile long, nearly a kilometre you can walk or cycle across and still is a main railway line. A lovely walk on a sunny day.
