I cannot say enough good things about the entire team at Shark Explorers. From booking to the end of our morning on the water, all the staff were welcoming, energetic, and adaptable. Definitely a must-do if you're looking for a little adventure. Even if you don't want to view the sharks from the cage, viewing from the boat was just as cool and fun---it was awesome to see two different perspectives. The whole time, I felt completely safe in the care of the crew. I would not trust anyone else as much as I trust these guys! Lots of Copper Sharks (15-20) up to 3 meters and seal friends as well (the crew knows them by name...Dennis and Julius!)

We did the shark cage diving from Simon's Town and it was a fantastic experience. Sad not to see Great White sharks, but that is the fault of the Orcas not the operator! This was one of the many things we learned about while we waited for other guests. The hosts were super knowledgeable and a pleasure to chat with. We saw loads of Bronze Whalers (and a very cheeky seal!) right up close, the crew were excellent at drawing the sharks right up to the cage. I love a boat ride so the ~30min trip from the harbor to the site was an added bonus, nice to see our bay and beaches from "the other side". If you suffer from motion sickness, it'd be wise to take precautions in advance so that you are feeling 100% at dive time. Take an underwater camera if you have one. All-in-all I can strongly recommend the experience and Shark Explorers as an operator specifically.

Everything was really nice, the crew was really friendly, gave us good safety tips and instructions. We saw around 25-30 sharks!

So many sharks up close. We saw about 30 right in front of the cage. It was truly amazing. I loved it. Worth it for sure. The staff are very helpful and look after you very well.

A first class trip run by a first class team. In particular all the team members went that little bit extra to make sure we enjoyed the trip and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone else visiting the Cape Town area.

Trip was very enjoyable and staff could not have made us all feel more comfortable.

My wife and I are going to South Africa for the first time in May (bucket list trip) and have been searching everywhere for the perfect Great White Shark trip. She's PADI certified and doesn't want to "hold her breath" in a large cage with many people. Do we get Scuba equipment / at least a snorkel?

I did not do the Great White diving while I was there . Weather did not permit it; however, in South Africa you are not on scuba when you do these trips. You are in snorkel gear. It is not really 'diving'. I enjoyed my scuba diving with this shop with seals and seven-gill sharks very much, so if you can keep in mind you will be on snorkel and keep your mind open to that experience, you should enjoy it. Be prepared for COLD water and some likelihood of weather delays or cancellations. That area of the world has very unpredictable weather.
If you want interact with Great Whites, on scuba, in a cage, this shop does go to Mexico, to Guadeloupe Island on extended liveaboard boat and THAT is on scuba. Again, I have not gone with them on this trip, but many years ago, I worked on a dive boat that went there for the fantastic spear fishing and we had encounters with Great Whites long before there was any cage diving.
