If you have booked d Jaisalmer desert safari then I suggest do not try the Pushkar safari. They will charge you 8000 to 7000 for a jeep ride. Not worth it. Do not fall into their trap of showing desert roses karan arjun set and all.
They are not worth visiting.

It’s around one year of my trip with friends and writing review after long time.
I saw first time animal’s fair in pushkar. In this fair camel will be buy and sell from many other locations.
It is different experience I never get before.
But there’s no cleaning management from government.

The popular camel fair is a photographer's delight. Don't expect anyting fancy or polished here. The fair has local artisans dislaying their produce/handicrafts which are pretty interesting. The camel fair exhibits decorated camels, horses and bulls that are sold at hefty price. You can go on a camel ride solo or in a group. The prices are economical.
The fair also has local delicacies worth indulging in. Daal kachori and daal baati are a must-try. We had visited pre-Covid season in November, so masks or sanitizers were not required. The situation might be different this year though.
Overall the place comes to life with music, dance, swings, colorful hops and delectable food stalls while the local police manages the crowd. After dark it is a briliant sight!! The fair makes Pushkar so lively and gives you authentic village life experience.

The Pushkar Mela deserves a few days to soak up the atmosphere as hundreds of camels and horses and their owners converge on the small town of Pushkar. The Mela starts with an evening puja by the lake with lamps everywhere and blessings from the local priests. We also had our own puja so that we could avoid other people trying to sell us blessings!
Walking around the camps in the early morning is the best time to take photographs and there are hundreds of camels on view. Later in the week the very distinctive Mewar horses arrive. These are far more valuable than the camels and are treated like royalty. Our guide’s cousin brought a stallion which was expected to win the top prize, as his father had before him, and was stunning. Horses are not ridden before the age of seven, unlike in most Western countries, and only the stallions wear bits when ridden.

we were in pushkar when the Fair was on. On way to Brahma temple, when we entered the ground about 1 noon, there were less than 200 people. camels were about 25 and about 10 horses. Supposed to be the biggest livestock gathering!!! took a camel ride and some snaps for memory sake. outside were shops like the usual shops you have at any Indian fair.
i was told that there is another place 4 km away wherein the tents for night stay are available and the camel racing & horse racing happen there.

The camel fair... One of the best fair in rajasthan of camels,horses and much more. You will have a unique experience there the vibe the sound everything was amazing. Its near the sarovar too so you can walk away to that also. A must visit lace in rajasthan.

Il faut l'avoir vécu une fois dans sa vie. Observer les éleveurs de dromadaires et de chevaux marchander avec leurs clients, voir les gens venus souvent de loin s'amuser sur les carrousels et faire leurs emplettes. Spectacle bigarré et très bruyant garanti!

Hi, I was there many years ago. rented a British Enfield motorcycle and spent a month in india. two full days is fine. Thats probably what my friend and I did. three nights I think. and two full days. It was crowded, and probably more so now. Rooms will be difficult. We kept looking and found one at a reasonable cost. Also , there is a bit larger town nearby , check it out also, because it could be a possibility for a room. I did not find a security risk, But all of india has property crime, thieft, etc so keep aware, and do flash your wealth LOL

Hello, there are several campsites during Pushkar Fair around temple town , fair ground Pushkar !! The best campsite is Serene Aravali , Orchads but be careful booking other small campsites - they take 100% advance and could not offer basic services.....

I am so sorry - just saw this and it's much too late. You need to check the Pushkar Camel Fair websites. Each year the fair is on different dates based on the full moon.
