Petit musée climatisé dans une jolie bâtisse, entrée 5€ , visité en une heure, échappatoire idéal du tourisme de masse de Nauplie.

Ένας πραγματικά υπέροχος χώρος: Το κτήριο, οι κήποι, τα εκθέματα, τα πάντα ήταν πανέμορφα. Το προσωπικό εξυπηρετικό. Η ιστορία μέσα από την τέχνη. Μια ιδανική επίσκεψη και για σχολεία!

We finally managed to get to this place on our 5th visit to Nafplio! It's housed in a stunning, beautifully restored Venetian mansion on the edge of the new town.
Currently there's an exhibition celebrating the anniversary of the War of Independence, which was fascinating and very varied. I believe however that the normal display comprises a collection of paintings by Greek artists?
One thing we didn't like, or appreciate, was being followed from room to room by a member of staff! I don't think that we look dodgy, and don't really understand why they felt compelled to do this?

Whether you are an art lover or not, this is a very beautiful gallery. we visited during the 1821 exhibition and had the chance to get a glimpse of very important artworks. Also, the building is magnificent

It was marvellous to see such a collection on the theme of womanhood. A temporary exhibition it was promoted with a fine painting by Pavlos Mathiopoulos and comprised great portrayals from the 19th and 20th centuries by Greek artists.
Nikolaos Gyzis's Foster Mother and Peak-a-Boo, which shows a woman holding a child with two more children around her, are lovely.
Sleeping Flower Girl by Georgios Iakovidis is touching in its innocence. A work by Symeon Savvidis titled Lady Reading a Letter (Accompanying a Bouquet) shows the young woman engrossed in the correspondence.
A permanent collection deals with the Greek War of Liberation from the Ottoman Empire. The famous Hellenophile Lord Byron is being received at Missolonghi in a work by Theodoros Vryzakis.
His All for One's Country shows a garlanded young woman in white with outstretched arms arising above a large crowd.
A number show the horrors of war. The Death of Lambros Tzavellas by Donato Francesco de Vivo and Flight from Patras by Dionysisos Tsokos convey the frightening chaos.

ειδαμε την εκθεση αρωμα γυναικας, την οποια ειχα δει και στην αθηνα, σε αρκετες περιπτωσεις το φως ηταν ασχημα τοποθετημενο πανω σε καποιους πινακες.Κατα τα αλλα ο χωρος ειναι πολυ ομορφος και η μονιμη εκθεση ηταν πολυ ωραια

Liked the library with paintings of women reading; also is pretty accessible with elevator and ramps

The library downstairs was my favorite part of this museum. You can sign a book to record your visit and comments, there's a nice table and chairs for an old woman to sit down and have a rest (upstairs, this is HARD with only one straight chair in the corner of one of the rooms). And I was moved by the excellent paintings of women and girls reading - books, letters, and (my favorite) a newspaper.
The historical exhibit is on the second floor and definitely had interest although I found some of the war paintings depressing. Rotating exhibits on the first floor; the one when I visited was excellent.

This has got to be the prettiest building in the whole of the city. The architecture is stunning on the outside although the gallery on the inside is rather small.
Its great if you want to find out more about the Greek war of independence and how Nafplio became the capital of Greece for around 10 years. But I think there are probably better ways to spend you time in this lovely city

Small gallery that is nice to go to if it’s hot out because of the air conditioning. It is free to enter on Monday’s so I would recommend that!

Πριν αρχίσετε την περιήγησή σας στα αξιοθέατα του Ναυπλίου,περάστε από το Δημαρχείο της πόλης, για να προμηθευτείτε χάρτη.Να το ζητήσετε.Παρέχεται δωρεάν:NafplionLife tourist map 2019. Έτσι θα βρείτε και τα μνημεία καλύτερα και γρηγορότερα, αν δεν έχετε οδηγό μαζί σας ή και να έχετε.Είναι ενημερωμένος και άκρως διαφημιστικός. Η πινακοθήκη έχει μόνιμη σπουδαία έκθεση σε αίθουσες στον πρώτο όροφο και περιοδικές στο ισόγειο,μόλις μπαίνετε δεξιά. Τώρα φιλοξενεί μια σπουδαία έκθεση με τίτλο: Άρωμα γυναίκας.
