We highly recommend Glenridding Sailing Centre!
All the staff were so helpful, friendly and relaxed. We stored our boat for 1 week but were made to feel like long-term friends!
Our tuition with Joe was second to none, we learnt so much and couldn't have wished for a nicer guy!!
We can't wait to come back...

Absolutely love this place. We go back year after year. Pete & Josh are just fantastic. Really friendly & can do attitude. Would recommend 100%.

Just to say thanks again to our instructor (Jack) and the owner (Pete) for the excellent sailing lesson last Friday (14th) in the 'Lune Whammel' - four of us plus Jack - and then the couple of days we had open canoeing (inc. some sailing when the strong, gusty winds relented) on the Sunday and Monday. Magic! We'll be back next year.

I booked online but I'm not sure they knew it but never mind they had a boat ready in good shape in minutes. Everyone was friendly and we had a great time. The boat was well maintained and I would have loved to sail longer. I highly recommend them from experienced sailors to beginners they look after you. A group of school children had a whale of a time while we were there.

A really enjoyable hour with kayak's on Ullswater. Josh was really helpful in getting us prepared and kitted out. We also had use of changing facilities which was really useful - as we did get a bit wet in our kayak's! The sailing club was not busy on the day we went although the weather was excellent and the sun was shining.

We hired a raft (2 canoes tied together) for an hour and it was a great experience. We just turned up but there was a raft available so, after a safety talk we were on the water. The canoes were very sturdy and we had a great time.

It was lovely to get on the water on kayaks and canoes. No fuss, felt safe and good equipment. Staff were helpful and gave us confidence to get on the water. Toilets, changing rooms and shower at the centre. Park in the village and walk down

What a treat to sail a traditional dinghy on beautiful Ullswater. The friendly staff helped us set up the boat and gave us useful tips on where to sail. We had six in our party and all enjoyed a sail during our morning booking. The lively breeze meant we raced along and the lovely stable boat kept even the beginners comfortable. As skipper I was kept busy with lots to think about- small islands, lee shores and other vessels- it was great! We all loved it!

Glenrdding runs Youth Water activities sessions. Our 2 teenagers did this, just for a day and enjoyed it v.much saying:-
“I loved the experience of sailing on lake… Susan helped us out as it was one of the first times that we had done sailing
We learnt the different names of the boat and how to get up when we capsize
It was very fun because we were able to play games with the rest of the sailors and race each other. “
“Very supportive teaching even as someone with little previous experience sailing”
As parents. we thought Susan did a wonderful. She was an experienced instructor very encouraging. She managed the different abilities of our teenagers very well (alongside the rest of the group).
Would definitely recommend this.

Hired kayaks for 2 days running. Staff were friendly and helpful and pretty relaxed. Kayaks were in good condition and the safety rules were set out well. Would definitely return. Worth booking dinghies in advance.
